A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
JOB DESCRIPTIONS AND PAY GRADES FOR THE
FOLLOWING POSITIONS: BUS DRIVER,

FORTH IN COMPOSITE EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED
HERETO; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida deems
it to be in the best interests of the citizens and residents of the City to add the following
job descriptions and pay grades to the pay plan for fiscal year 1993/94: Bus Driver,
Grade 19;,-..,D

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida does
hereby approve the following job descriptions and pay grades and authorizes the same
to be added to the pay plan for fiscal year 1993/94: Bus Driver, Grade 19;
A--:,,*--, "' .... ", ~," and Assistant City Manager, Non-Classified, which descriptions
are attached hereto as composite Exhibit "A".
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.

ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
Nature of Work:
This is a highly responsible professional supervisory,
administrative and research position reporting directly to the City
Manager.
The employee's work will include research and studies aimed at
securing facts about administrative operations throughout all
departments of the City, and will include some administrative
responsibilities relative to City operations. The employee will
work on a day-to-day basis with Citizens Department Directors and
members of the press.
Acts as City Manager during times of absence and
unavailability of the City Manager.

Assists and advises City Manager with administrative details and
duties of City Manager's office relative to the day-to-day

attempts to resolve difficulties or provide responses.
Assists in preparation of the agenda and support material for City
Council Meetings; prepares and writes public information material.
Assists City Manager in monitoring departmental activities.
Maintains close contact with all municipal departments in order to
assist departments in meeting operational objectives as
appropriate.
Participates in the planning and coordination of work in connection
with the proper operating functions of financial administration and
budget preparation; assists the City Manager in analyzing budget
requests.
Reviews budget transfers/amendments for justification, fiscal
impact and conformance with applicable policies/procedures.
Analyzes budget variances for revenues and expenditures

BUS DRIVER
Nature of Work:
This is highly responsible vehicle operation work in
transporting City citizens.
Work involves operating passenger vehicles over prescribed
fixed routes within assigned areas. Responsibilities include
operating the vehicle carefully, safely and within a prescribed
time schedule. Work is performed with the utmost regard for the
safety of the passengers, the general public and all equipment.
Specific assignments or schedules are reviewed on a daily basis.
An employee in this position reports to Public Works Director.

Operates passenger vehicle according to assigned established routes
and schedules; assists passengers in boarding and leaving vehicles.
Monitors fare collection; issues transfers.
Maintains records and logs of travel time, mileage, gas purchases
and passengers served.
Provides general information to passengers.
Takes vehicle to be serviced for repairs/preventive maintenance;
cleans and washes vehicle as necessary.
Performs routine daily maintenance of vehicle and safety checks;
detects improper functioning mechanical systems on the assigned
vehicle.
Possesses working knowledge of City's geography; complies with City
traffic and motor vehicle regulations.
Listens, understands and follows oral and written instructions and
directives; conveys information clearly and concisely.
Establishes and maintains an effective working relationship with
supervisors, subordinates, employees, other departments/agencies;

Education and Job-Related Experience:
High School Diploma/GED preferred. Must be able to read and write.
Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver's License and over
1 year up to and including three year's experience in the operation
of motor vehicles, preferably transporting passengers; or any
equivalent combination which meets the following minimum abilities:
