BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, WEDNESDAY, MAY 30, 1979 AT 7:00 P. M.

Mayor Harmening welcomed everyone and called the Special City
2ouncil Meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. He announced the meeting
was called for the purpose of canvassing the vote of the Special
Election.
Mrs. Padgett announced that a total of 5,855 votes were cast
including absentee ballots and read the breakdown as follows:
Walter ~Marty~ Trauger - 47092
Sam Lamer Wright - 1,690
She added the turnout was 28.42%.
Mayor Harmening referred to it being obvio,us that Walter 'Marry'~
Trauoer has won the election and should be duly sworn in for the
office of City Councilman for the City of Boynton Beach. Mr.
Strnad moved to accept the results of the election of May
1979, proclaiming "Marry' Trauger the winner of the Council race.
Mr. Roberts seconded the motion. No discussion. Motion carried
4-0.
Mayor Harmening ascertained ~. Trauger was present and asked if
the Council was in agreement to have him sworn in while still in
session. Mr. Vance stated the Council must agree unanimously to
this addition. Mr. Strnad moved to amend the agenda to include
the swearing in of Mr. Trauger while the body is still in session,
seconded by Mr. Roberts. No discussion. Motion carried 4-0.
Mayor Harmening requested Mr. Trauger to come forward and Mrs.
Padgett administered the oath of office. Mayor Harmening in-
vited Mr. Trauger to have a seat with the Council. Mr. Strnad
officially congratulated Mr. Trauger on his victory. Mrs.
Riseoe, Mr. Roberts and Mayor Harmening did the same.
Mr. Trauger then thanked all those who worked so diligently for
him and supported him in the campaign, particularly all those who
voted for him. He plans to come to the Council meetings a little
early each evening where he hopes to have the opportunity of lis-
teninc to the voters and citizens of this City and any suggestions
that can improve Boynton Beach. He then announced he is willing
to work with each and every Council member to get on with the City
business and extends the hand of friendship and will work with them
in total cooperation.

Mr. Vance referred to the situation with the agreement for the out-
fall with Delray Beach involving some liens in the contract and
advised that he would have to obtain an opinion regarding this from
our bond counsel. Mayor Harmening agreed this matter should be
cleared up as soon as possible.
Mr. Roberts moved to adjourn, seconded by Mrs. Riscoe. Motion
carried 5+0 and the meeting was properly adjourned at 7:05 P. M.
