Recreation & Open Space Element of the City's Comp. Plan — Policy 5.1 1. Wally Majors, Recreation and Parks Director, explained at the last meeting he requested feedback on the City's park facilities. This was not a comprehensive analysis; rather, it was their comments about the adequacy of the facilities, based on their observations and experiences. Feedback was also welcome throughout the year, and if anything needed to be addressed, staff should be contacted. Currently, staff was conducting an analysis of the facilities as it pertained to the Americans with Disabilities Act. Mr. Majors noted some new items were added, such as an additional pool lift due to the size of the pool and because there had to be equipment that could be used independently by the person who needed it. The Barrier Free Park was finished, but the family restroom used by individuals with disabilities was lacking a power- assisted unit. Staff ordered the unit which would be installed in two to four weeks. The beach improvements were finished. Mr. Majors noted the buildings at Oceanfront Park had needed some attention. The boardwalk was finished, and with the additional work to the buildings, it was a great facility with quality amenities. Park facilities were still very popular and vibrant as were the eight recreation centers, including the building at Harvey Oyer, Jr. Park. 2 Meeting Minutes Education and Youth Advisory Board Boynton Beach, FL February 23, 2012 B.
