On behalf of Thespian Troupe 6484, we'd like to thank you for your
magnanimous donation that has given us the privilege to experience this year's Thespian
State Festival. If it wasn't for you and your kind contribution, we wouldn't have been
able to experience this truly life altering opportunity. The knowledge that we bring back
shall remain with us throughout our lives.
At the Festival, we participated in workshops such as "Friendly Shakespeare" and
"Making Shakespeare Come Alive" which taught us the value of Shakespeare's work and
the important hints he left within his writings. Other fantastic workshops we attended
were Aerial Acrobatics, and Stage Combat. These allowed us to develop feelings within
ourselves and our bodies, and taught us the importance of trusting your partner. There
were also workshops regarding college preparation such as "I Hope I Get If' that taught
us what colleges expect from a growing, striving dedicated performer.
We were also given the privilege of seeing a number of One Act Plays and
performances put on by the same students we had grown to become friends with. Lord of
the Files, Lost in Yonkers and Unforgettable gave us a thrilling ride through realistic
drama and tragedy, while performances of The Pirates of Penzance and The Drowsy
Chaperone led us through a night of laughter, song. dance.
The competition pieces we brought to the state festival taught us the value of hard
work, and set the bar for what to expect in the future. Bridgette, Brendan, and Jonah all
received the rating of "Excellent" in the monologue competition, as did our scene from A
Raisin in the Sun. Our scene, Hot Rod, brought back a decent rating of "Good." All in all,
our work was not only appreciated but also worth all the work.
The knowledge we've gained, the experiences that each of us have had and the
memories that will last a lifetime all wouldn't have been a reality if it wasn't for you.
Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity. Your heJp has gone to a worthy
cause and wiJI continue to be appreciated.
All our thanks,
Kevin Altenor
Brendan Gardner
