Safety Award pins were distributed as were updated OOPs cards. All employees would receive the card and the list of employees in each department receiving the pins was distributed. Mr. Magazine noted the awards were for 2011. B. Departmental Safety Issues Discussion turned to reporting Workers Compensation claims. There were instances where an accident or injury was not timely reported and it caused problems. If there is a potential claim, Risk Management needed to be notified immediately. Learning of issues after the fact was not good. Mr. Magazine explained if an employee does not want to go to the doctor if hurt on the job, Risk Management should still be notified and they can note the incident as for "Record Only". Often employees hurt late on Thursday or Friday, or even the weekend, show up at the Emergency Room or come in on Monday and say they were hurt. Mr. Magazine emphasized staff has to authorize treatment. Often an X-ray or stitch can be done at specific urgent care centers. It was made clear, if Risk Management is not notified within 24 to 48 hours of an incident, they will investigate and supervisors will be held accountable. Employees just have to call the OOPs line to have treatment authorized and get the report to Risk Management. C. Other Chair Bobich wanted to review PowerPoint slides on the shared drive as it pertained to safety issues. He commented they were good to review occasionally. If any training was needed, Risk Management should be contacted. VII. Announcements A. Other None. VIII.
