Mr. Balfe read the reports for March, April and May. There were six Mausoleum
entombments, seven Mausoleum inurnments, 21 ground full -body burials, and five ground
cremains for a total of 39 funerals. There was one disentombment and disinterment. He
advised that when trying to print the June, July and August report, there was a glitch and
he would mail it to the members of the Board.
Motion
Ms. Glinski moved to accept the reports. Vice Chair Hohner seconded the motion that
unanimously passed.
B. Status report on the fountain filtration (Tabled on 03/08/2012)
Mr. Balfe confirmed that all the members had the opportunity to look at the fountain and it
was determined not to install a filtration system. A decision was to be made whether to
install plantings or remove it. Chair Hatch advised the rock area around the fountain had
not been maintained. There were weeds growing around the rocks. He agreed with
planting flowers in lieu of the fountain and keep the rock area, but clean it up. Mr. Balfe
confirmed this to mean that flowers would be planted in the base of the fountain. Vice
Chair Hohner disagreed with the planting of flowers in the fountain and suggested
removing the planter in its entirety. The other option would be to install the filtration system
which would cost over $2,000 plus $50.00 per month in maintenance costs. There was
brief discussion whether to remove the fountain, plant flowers, or replace it with an actual
planter. Mr. Balfe explained the only difference between a planter and a fountain would be
the pedestal in the center. Once the center pedestal was removed, it was no longer a
fountain, it became a planter.

Motion
Vice Chair Hohner moved to remove the pedestal from the fountain and use the base of
the fountain as a planter and remove the rocks that are around the base and plant flowers.
The motion was seconded by Ms. Glinski and unanimously passed.
There was discussion on how to dispose of the pedestal. There was consensus to store it
behind the fence until such time a use could be determined.
C. Update on gate at the pit area (Tabled on 03/038/2012)
Mr. Balfe inquired of the Board what material they would like to use based on suggestions
he made at the last meeting. The Board indicated they would look at the gate and decide
on the material. Mr. Bone commented when he looked at the steel frame, he noticed that
there was no diagonal brace on the metal gate and thought it would probably sag with a
load on it. He felt if you put a brace on it, the gate would not sag. Mr. Balfe indicated the
problem with material before was that one section of wood fence was installed and the
gate began to sag the full length of the metal frame. The reason why the brace was not
installed yet was because no decision had been made as to what material to use. There
was discussion with regard to single boards rather than shadowbox style, which would
save material.
Chris Roberts, Assistant Public Works Director, inquired if there were any Code
requirements as it related to the gate, where there could be non - compliance with Code
Enforcement? Mr. Balfe indicated the gate was similar to many of the dumpster enclosure
gates and the material used. The blanket permit that the Building Division had could be
used for the work. Mr. Balfe would follow -up with the Building Division.
Motion
Ms. Glinski moved to move forward with the gate and to install a brace. Mr. Bone
seconded the motion that unanimously passed.
