MONDAY NOVEMBER 5, 2012, AT 3:00 P.M. AT THE SENIOR CENTER

I. Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 3:00 p.m.
II. Pledge of Allegiance /Moment of Silent Reflection
The members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed by a moment of
silence for our troops.
III. Roll Call
Self- introductions were made.
IV. Approval of Minutes
Motion
Ms. Bruzzese moved to approve the minutes as presented. Ms. Young seconded the
motion that unanimously passed.
V. Approval of Agenda
There were no changes made to the agenda.

VI. Old Business
Donations for the Senior Center need to be made to the City of Boynton Beach with a
description of the use of the funds. These donations would be used by the Senior
Center only
Officer Huntington will be called in January to discuss the C.A.T. program for seniors.
Ms. Molina advised she requested new mirrors would be installed at the Senior Center.
The installation should be completed this week.
Chair Lynch indicated the new Seaside Cafe was doing very well. She advised on
November 7 at 1:00 p.m., there would be a Veteran's Day open house.
Ms. Molina advised that Hazard Prevention Day was scheduled for December 11 with
the American Red Cross.
With regard to the health fair, Ms. Molina advised she would look for a main sponsor
who would have signage on the stage.
Chair Lynch encouraged board members to visit the Senior Center as often as possible.
VII. New Business
Chair Lynch advised that the Board would be meeting every three months The
December meeting would be cancelled. The next meeting would be in February.
A fashion show would take place at the Mall. There would be 24 senior models, both
men and women. There would also be teen and child models. Some of the sponsors
included Sears, Designs by Karen, Rue 21 plus others. Stein Kids will do performances
of holiday songs. All the Miss Teens would also be there. The event takes place on
November 21 in front of J.C. Penney from 12:00 p.m. — 2:00 p.m. Hair and makeup
would be done free of charge for the women.
Ms. Molina advised Wi -Fi is in the works for the lobby and the rooms.
The Senior Formal Dance would take place at the Woman's Club. They are donating a
full course lunch with numerous hot and cold foods. There would be live bands as
entertainment and would include different senior centers in the area. There are 200
tickets available and members would get a discounted ticket. The prices are $20 for
members and $25 for non - members. Valet service would be available and Channel 5
News was interested in covering the event. The event would take place on January 8th
from 12:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.

The Mae Volen lift was briefly discussed. It worked more like a taxi service for
individuals If reserved the day before, the cost was $10. Reserving the day needed
was $15. There was wheelchair accessibility and goes only as far north as Lake Worth
and as far south as Boca Raton.
Ms. Molina briefly discussed the EMT seminar. A call was made to the Fire Chief and
she is awaiting his return call.
Chair Lynch advised there were still openings for two alternate members.
Ms. Molina announced the holiday party for December 13 A jazz band would perform.
She also advised there would be a pool tournament on January 21 held at the Senior
Center. The free tax preparation given by AARP would start February 4 and would be
every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and open to the public.
Ms. Molina reviewed an email she received from the Authority on Aging in Washington,
D.C. regarding cuts in budgets if Congress cannot come up with a serious bi- partisan
plan by the end of the year. It would affect this Senior Center. The Older Americans
Act would be affected, as well as Social Security and Medicaid. In Florida, it would
mean $4.2 million less a year. The National Counsel on Aging wrote a letter to
Congress and the President.
VIII. Next meeting date Monday, February 11, 2012 at the Boynton Beach Senior
Center at 3:00 p.m.
IX. Adjournment
Motion
There being no further business to discuss, Ms. Young moved to adjourn. Ms.
Bruzzese seconded the motion that unanimously passed. The meeting was adjourned
at 3:30 p.m.
