When it is completed, the link will be put on the shared drive along with the City's safety
videos and PowerPoint presentations. The videos are a good learning tool that can be
downloaded from any computer.
When the list is posted online, there will be many opportunities for training. If any
departments have any specific needs, they should contact Chair Bobich for assistance.
Chair Bobich also introduced John Churey, an Intern from Florida State College's Risk
Management Institute, who will be working closely with Risk Management and Human
Resources on day -to -day operations. He will also assist with a few projects on cost
allocation, typical inspections, new hire orientations and other things.
V. Old Business
A. Fire Drills
Chair Bobich explained there were a few false alarms last month. He has been
attempting will compile a report for the Committee, but each time he puts one together,
he has to add more. Recently, one alarm sounded because of a dust sensor. Another
time, the alarm sounded because of someone smoking in one of the public restrooms.
Mr. Lee offered if the sensors are too sensitive, they could be adjusted.
B. Proud to be a Safe Worker Awards
None.
C. Departmental Inspections & Safety Meetings
Chair Bobich announced he appreciated receiving the inspection reports electronically.
Anyone needing assistance with inspections or the form should contact him.
D. Incident Review Board Referrals
There was an Incident Review Board meeting last week, but the meeting this week was
cancelled.
E. Drug Free Policy Statement (HR — Pat Sholos) — TABLED 10/12/2010
Chair Bobich explained this Policy was still not ready. It was hoped the City's
Ordinance would be deleted leaving just the Policy. Updating the Policy was much
easier as legislative mandates could be incorporated by reference. Currently, the
Ordinance has to be amended each time the State makes a change.

F. Safety Manual Review
The members approved changes to the Manual in February and were still waiting for
authorization from the City Manager's office and her signature. The updates would also
require some Administrative Policy Manual (APM) changes. Chair Bobich commented
one APM change pertained to the Safety Committee quorum requirements and would
lower the number of members needed to meet.
G. Other
None.
VI. New Business
A. Departmental Safety Issues
Ms. Sholos reported the remodeling in the Human Resources office was completed. A
lot of material, equipment and paperwork was removed. The area is less cluttered, and
all aisles were clear. Eventually, the main door to Human Resources will be used as
opposed to the door to the former Risk Management Office.
Mr. Lee explained he ordered breathing masks used to investigate fires and they saved
about $200 per mask. In the past, firefighters carried a tank on their back to keep the
mask clear. Now they have one with a tube. When the firefighter breathes, it brings in
air and it clears the mask at the same time. Prescription eyewear is also available, but
only one person may need it.
B. Other
None.
VII. Announcements
A. Other
Chair Bobich reminded all the Violence in the Workplace class must be taken. Two
classes are offered: one for supervisors and one for general employees. Employees
had to take this in the past. Once taken, employees should send their tests to Tara
Altman.
Chair Bobich also reported Risk Management issued an electronic copy of the Safety
Newsletter and employees were submitting newsletter puzzles back to the Department.
They hoped to receive over 100 responses, and if so, two prize drawings would be held
as opposed to one.
