Minutes 07-09-13 MINUTES OF THE SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING HELD ON TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2013, AT 9:00 A.M., CONFERENCE ROOM B IN CITY HALL 100 E. Call to Order Chair Bobich called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. II. Roll Call Roll call was taken. A quorum was present. III. Acceptance of Minutes of 6/11/2013 regular meeting Motion Mr. Dauta moved to accept the minutes as written. Ms. Scott seconded the motion that unanimously passed. IV. Safety Committee Education & Training — tbd Chair Bobich requested this item be deferred to later in the meeting. There were no objections to the request. Meeting Minutes Safety Committee Boynton Beach, FL July 9, 2013 V. Old Business A. Fire Drills Chair Bobich was still working on the report. There were some false alarms due to faulty detectors or dust entering the system. B. Proud to be a Safe Worker Awards None. C. Departmental Inspections & Safety Meetings Chair Bobich was receiving these electronically. There were no issues to report. Chair Bobich explained he and the intern would be conducting inspections. D. Incident Review Board Referrals None. E. Drug Free Policy Statement (HR — Pat Sholos) — TABLED 10/12/2010 This item remained on the table. F. Safety Manual Review Chair Bobich was waiting for the document to be signed and would then post it online. G. Other None. VI. New Business A. Departmental Safety Issues Chair Bobich explained paperwork has not been coming in on time over the last few weeks, and Risk Management was not getting reports in a timely fashion. Some of the paperwork was incomplete or missing signatures. It is very important complete information is received. He requested the members remind staff to call Risk Management to arrange for medical treatment when injuries occur. If the injury results in a claim, Risk Management has to submit paperwork to the State. There are also supplemental report forms that can be submitted in addition to photographs and police reports. 2 Meeting Minutes Safety Committee Boynton Beach, FL July 9, 2013 Chair Bobich also pointed out Tropical Storm Chantal could potentially impact the coast. He recommended the members return to their respective departments to ensure preparations are being made as appropriate. The Hurricane Go Box and supplies should be prepared. Each department has to make the required and appropriate preparations. Hopefully, the storm would pass, but it would be a good training opportunity. B. Other VII. Announcements A. Other None. Vlll.
