Dear Principal,
We invite your students to participate in our 2014 Young Artists and Young Authors Showcase, presented
by The Greater Boynton Beach Sister Cities Committee, Inc. and the Education and Youth Advisory Board of
the City of Boynton Beach.
This year's theme is "Connect globally, Thrive locally ".
What does this mean
Sister city relationships foster partnerships within the community and between international cities,
counties, and states. In 2012 Sister Cities International launched a new tag line: Connect globally. Thrive
locally. Through 2D media, essays or poetry, this provides an opportunity for your students to illustrate
how global connectivity allows an individual or community to thrive locally. How has this connectivity
impacted them for the better?
Enclosed is a flyer that we ask you to distribute to your students. Please make as many copies as you
need. This can be sent to you electronically if you like. For Showcase guidelines and Student entry forms,
please contact me directly.
Last year, nine students from our schools were awarded cash prizes at an Awards Reception at the
Boynton Beach Mail, where we will once again be exhibiting all entries from March 24 -April 6, 2014.
We look forward to your students' participation in this Showcase. We are sure that they will again enjoy
this opportunity to express themselves and share their talent with the community.
Sincerely,
Jeanne Heavilin
