MEETING MINUTES
SAFETY COMMITTEE
BOYNTON BEACH, FL. MAY 14, 2013
• safety and inspection forms
• safety information
• how to deal with aggressive hornets in the summer
• how to use fire extinguishers
• how to put out a grease fire in the kitchen
• First aid
• Lightening
• Hurricane
Safety forms will be modified in the near future to digital, so they can be filled out online.
Another source of information in addition to the Safety folder is contractors. Contractors
very often share safety information because they have to train their field employees how
to deal with snakes, African bees and different types of insects. Their presentation also
uses pictures and graphics for employees who have difficulty with the language. The
class they teach is also part of a fork lift training class and Chair Bobich spoke to the
manager who shared the safety information which included a video. Many times
contractors and local businesses can be very helpful and are often willing to share their
safety information.
The Safety Council is now offering streaming videos. Some of the videos discuss golf
cart safety or heat safety which can be very specific and only relate to certain people in
the City, while other information can relate to anyone and their families. There are two
pages of video topics listed that are free and can stream right onto your computer.
Chair Bobich played the golf cart safety presentation to the Board as an example. To
access videos go to; www.safetycouncilpbc.org and follow member instructions to get
the video you are interested in.
