I. Call to Order
Chair Bobich called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m.

The Records Coordinator called the roll. A quorum was present.

Chair Bobich distributed tips on slips and falls and how to avoid slips at the workplace.

A puddle of water on the floor can be cleaned in a few minutes. However, if it is
something you cannot handle, speak with your supervisor, or contact Facilities or Risk
Management. They would be able to handle the situation.
Now that Risk Management and Human Resources have merged, not only is
employee's safety important but their wellness ius also. People can get stressed at
work. Make a conscious effort to relax yourself. Chair Bobich distributed some stress
buster tips to share with their employees.
Mr. Lee commented seeing numerous people walking and texting at the same which
can be hazardous. Chair Bobich agreed walking and texting can be hazardous and
should perhaps be added to the tripping hazard list.
V. Old Business
A. Fire Drills
Last year there was a total of 16 drills monitored by the Fire Department. A few drill
reports are still missing. Going forward, Mr. Lee will send reports after each drill.
Reports are still due from Fire, Golf Course, Public Works and Utilities. Each
department can contact the Fire Department to schedule a drill. Drills are usually done
unannounced.
Eight reports have already been received for this year which is halfway completed. Mr.
Bobich asked Mr. Lee if he had anything to add about the drills. He replied everyone
did what they should have done. Everyone got out of the building and turned off the
lights. Chair Bobich suggested paying attention to the public as well. Sometimes
people hide in the bathrooms.
B. Proud To Be A Safe Worker Awards
There were no awards at this time.
C. Departmental Inspections and Safety Meetings
Chair Bobich stated he has been receiving after meeting reports and appreciates the
consistency and that they are sent electronically. Some departments are sending hard
copies but e -mail is preferred. If anyone has any issues or concerns or needs to find a

form to document the meeting, please contact Chair Bobich. A copy of the meeting's
agenda is acceptable in lieu of the form.
D. Incident Review Board Referrals
There were no referrals to review.
E. Drug Free Policy Statement — TABLED
F. Safety Manual Review
Waiting for managerial approval.
G. Other
None.
VI. New Business
A. Departmental Safety Issues
Mr. Lee stated all fire investigators now have self- contained breathing apparatus. They
have also all received approved gloves, boots and hard hats to investigate fires.
Firefighters replace their FCVAs periodically and Chief Carter was able to add the order
for the investigators to his replacement order. Chair Bobich commented there should
be a person responsible for making sure all required equipment is up to date. Mr. Lee
remarked they have been waiting four to five years to get new approved equipment.
B. Other
Blue Collar/White Collar employees who work mainly in the field will get safety shoe
reimbursements in the amount of $147.50 before taxes. All other employees will have
to purchase their boots and be reimbursed up to a maximum of $147.50. If there are
any questions, please contact either Chair Bobich or Ms. Webb.
VII. Announcements
Ms. Webb announced there will be a few awards from the Palm Beach Safety Council
this year. This year's numbers went down by an average of 15% on all types of claims.
All City employees should be proud. It was a great year. Chair Bobich remarked there

were approximately 6.2 million miles driven and only 17 preventable crashes. Worker's
Comp also went down by 15 %. In monetary terms, that calculates to approximately
50 %.
Chair Bobich announced the Employee Wellness and Benefits Fair will take place on
Thursday, March 20 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Ms. Sholos stated there will
be new providers, a couple of massage chairs, two derma scanners and Biometrics
stations all paid for by Cigna. There will also be drawings for gifts and Target gift
certificates.
This year employees will be able to call the Biometric company and schedule a time for
their appointment on the day of the fair. There will be additional stations this year to
accommodate the possible large volume of participants. This will allow people to enjoy
the rest of the fair.
Chair Bobich handed out Safety calendars. Ms. Webb remarked the new Safety logo
changed. It is now; "Safety Begins with You ".
VIII. Next Meeting Date
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. The location
will be determined.
IX. Adjournment
Mr. Naughton moved to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Webb seconded the motion that
passed unanimously.
Having no further business to discuss, Chair Bobich adjourned the meeting at 9:24 a.m.
