The next Library Board meeting is April 23, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. The meeting was adjourned at 4:48 p.m.
The Library Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chair Jeannie Taylor. All board
members were present except Barbara Erlichman and Barbara Weinberg. The minutes of the February 26, 2014
meeting were approved as distributed.
Correspondence: Barbara Erlichman sent an email stating she was en route but stuck in traffic due to an
accident and would not make the meeting.

Chair's Report: None.
Unfinished Business:
Craig discussed the juvenile fines policy (juveniles may read -off their fines) and stated that it was working well.
He distributed the Over -Drive e-books report for February 2014. The report shows that Boynton's Overdrive
patrons checked out 403 items in February.. Boynton Library is in second place for checkouts behind Delray
Beach library, which had 404 checkouts.
The Unique Management Collection Services report was also distributed to the board. The collection service
% of Dollars activated is at 48.56 %, with total dollars recovered to date over $6252.
During the staffing update Craig stated that he was reporting the part time Division Head Librarian position to
assure placement with someone who has public library experience. One open page position will be filled after
review of the shelving test results and one Library Aide.
Creation of the Digital Creative Commons (DCC) area for teens is in process, with staff training and ordering of
equipment and supplies underway. A Digital Services Librarian position is needed to help staff and with the
kids on this project. Camera and locker installation is also needed before the area is ready for use. Craig plans
to assign an AmeriCorps person to the project next year if the library gets a third AmeriCorps volunteer.
Craig also discussed and distributed the updated and corrected Computer Use Policy to board members.
New Business: The Friend's Author luncheon raised over $4,200. They are considering other fundraisers for
next year since the luncheon takes a great deal of work for the amount raised. The Friends group contributes
much needed funds to supplement the library's budget. The Friends have allocated $34,300 for next year's
budget, earmarked for Baker & Taylor books, AmeriCorps funding, and programming.
Library Director's Report: Craig distributed the monthly report for February and made note of some of the
statistics. He also shared a press release regarding the new juvenile fines program Read Up/Pay Down. A local
book company has donated another shipment of books. Teens on spring break helped transport the books into
the library. The library has applied for a grant to offer yoga and meditation class for teens during the summer.
The Teen Art Show with snack and punch is April 2 at 7pm. Artwork by teenage library patrons will be
shown.
