departments to ensure the equipment was being used and had not seen anyone without
it in the last six weeks. Also of importance was defensive driving and there were some
accidents. The requirement was to take the defensive driving class every two years and
some of the drivers had not retrained. Chair Bobich advised anyone needing to take the
class should contact Tara Altman, Human Resources/Risk Assistant.
The City will be offering online computer-based safety training through the City's
insurance carrier and the interactive training will eventually be available in other
departments. It would make it easier for off-site department employees, such as
Utilities and the Golf Course, to use. The Police and Fire Departments already have
interactive safety training programs and this program could supplement them.
(Mike Naughton arrived 9:14 a.m.)
Chris Mitchell observed a Sanitation worker jump out of the truck and with his arms, flag
drivers to stop as the truck backed into a driveway. He inquired if there was some type
of hand-held signal or equipment to use. Chair Bobich explained flags, and stop and
slow paddles are often used. Reflective gloves are also available to direct traffic.

employees were welcome. Part of the class includes a short quiz.
Ms. Webb asked for feedback on the new safety forms. Mr. Rolle pointed out the form
says to briefly state the incident, but it was clarified if more room was needed, another
sheet could be used. Risk Management will be going to each department to review the
forms with management and training was available. Reports could be dropped into a
file on the S Drive under "Incident Pictures" when completed.
There was brief discussion about the drone used at the Fourth of July event. A news
report pointed out it was a violation of federal law; however, the drone at the Boynton
Beach event was further away the required 500 feet safety zone. The only issues
identified with the event were grilling at the Park, which was permitted, and one sparkler
and two dogs at the Park that were not permitted.
