Pam Webb was acting Chair in the absence of Mark Bobich, Safety Administrator, and
she called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.
II. Roll Call
Roll call established a quorum was present.
Ill. Acceptance of Minutes of December 9, 2014 regular meeting
The minutes were approved.
IV. Safety Committee Education & Training
A. Managing Stress
The members viewed a video presentation on Managing Stress. After the video, the
members indicated how they cope with stress. A short quiz on how to manage stress
was distributed to the members to bring to their departments.

D. Incident Review Board Referrals
There was an Incident Review Board meeting later in the day, but no referrals.

The Manual was still being revised and/or reviewed.

I. New Business
A. Departmental Safety Issues
If anyone noticed anything that needed repair, they should notify Risk Management and
they would contact Facilities to make the repair.
B. Other

VII. Announcements
Ms. Webb announced Risk Management and Human Resources will be offering training
twice a month called 20/20 Safety on the second Friday of the month at 9 a.m. and the
fourth Thursday of the month at 2 p.m. at Intracoastal Park. She noted the locations
could be changed. There will be different monthly topics, 20 minutes of training from

City personnel or a City vendor, 20 minutes of discussion on the training and 20 minutes
of refreshments. Topics for 2015 were:

• March Wellness and Health
• April Safe Driving
• May Hurricane Awareness
• June Heat Stress
• July Ergonomics
• August General Safety
• September Eye and Ear Safety
• October Fire Safety Month
• November Holiday Safety
• December Holiday Stress
Signup sheets will be circulated for the training and registration and information will be
posted on the iBoynton website. Mr. McPherson commented this would not take the
place of department training. By having the training twice a month, departments can
send all employees.
Ms. Webb also distributed a handout on learning the warning signs of stroke.
Ms. Webb announced the City was submitting information for awards from the Safety
Council of Palm Beach County. The City experienced a 10% decrease in Workers
Compensation claims and a 25% decrease in preventable accidents, while travelling a
million more miles. When Ms. Webb learns of the results, she will pass them on to the
Committee.

The next meeting would be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 9:00 a.m.
