Mayor Michael called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. and asked
the audience to join in the Lord's Prayer, and stated the Flag
Salute ~ould be led by Gerald Ho Thompson~ Chief ofPolioe.
Recognition of Representatives of Civic Organizations=
The Mayor introduced Henry Thompson, the newly elected president
of the Boynton Beach Chamber of Commerce; Forrest Wallace and
Ronald Ewing, candidates for the City Council in the forthcom-
ing election.
Regular Meeting - October 7, 1968:
Mr. Nylund made the motion that the Minutes of the RegulerMeet-
lng of October 7, 1968 be accepted as presented. Hr. Gallo
seconded. Unanimously carried.

Tabulating Co~ittee. Seconded by Mr. Gallo, Unanimously

~PUBLIC AUDIENCE
Col. Albert Wehrell came forward to object to the proposed
salaz~f increase for the City Council.
Detemine Alternate Route for .~-95 Overpass T Ocean Av-n,_,~
The }~ayor read a letter received from Don Morgan of the Area
Plam~ing Board in whiah he asked the City Officials to consider
an alternate route for the proposed grade separation at Ocean
Avenue inasmuch as it was physically impossible, since the ramp
elevation would be only ten or eleven feet high. The Mayor
further stated after receipt of this letter, he contacted the
Road Planning Boards of the City and Chamber of Commerce~ the
City's Planning end ~oning Board and Art Smith, Associate of
Gerald Dake, the City's Master Planner to suggest another route~
he then called on Hank Thompson, of the Chamber of Commerce. for
their recommendations.
Mr.~l..ompson stated that after considerable discussion with his
Committ~e, it was decided that Ouean Avenue could conceivably
he excavated to the required depth height, provided that drain-
age could be worked out in that area. Mr. Thompson further
stated that in his discussion with Mr. Morgan, he felt if the
City was united in their thoughts as to what the~ planned to do,
there would be a good possibility of obtaining our objectives.
Robert Olds, Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Cormuittee then
came fozward and stated that his Committee had come up with the
same recommendations as presented by Mr. Thompson.
Art Smith, Associate with Gerald Dake, stated he had been in
~,~ference with Mr. Morgan to obtain a clear picture of the
~tuation, and they had concluded that S.W. ~econd AVoWOUtd .be

City Attorney stated this could not he done unless there was a
concurrence of the Legislature°
Mr. Nylund moved that the City Attorney take whatever steps are
necessary to get th~.~item initiated. M~. S~=~ers seconded.
Unanimously carried.
Councilmen Salary:
M~. Gallo made the motion that Councilmen salaries be increased
by an additional $50,00 per month and this request is to be
placed on the Referendum for the forthcoming election. Mr.
Collins seconded.Motion carried 4-1, Mr. Sunauers dissenting.

Mr.Gallo reminded the City Council of the meeting te be held on
Thursday, October 24th, with Russell and Axon Consulting Engi-
neers, and the Financial Advisors.

City Attorney advised the meeting this evening with the Board of
Adjustment was very cordial, and he was assured they would con-
sider the City's application for construction of the Snack Bar,
and further stated the next meeting would be ~ov~mber 4,1968.
WorkshoD Meeting:
Mr. Gallo stated that several City Officials will be attending
the Florida League of Municipalities Conference on Monday
October 28tho He would therefore suggest another date be set
for next Workshop. It was decided to have the next Workshop
on Wednesday, October 30th.
There being no further business, Mr. Gallo made the motion the
meeting be adjourned° Mr. Nylund Seconded. Unanimously carried.
