The Octopus was constructed by Michale
Nuriel and Devin Cahow using over 1000 ,
recycled craftsman tools and parts from a 4,44X 1
vehicle transmission. The interior lighting
was done by Devin Cahow, and the base was 4
welded out of a construction joe box (a large
metal tool box) using all repurposed -
materials, the entire piece was welded . #5'
together, piece by piece.
The Octopus sculpture dimensions are 6 feet *` ' . A
in circumference and 6 feet tall. ..
w a
The sculpture is made from a steel base with `, • •
stainless steel and steel hardened metals for y,
the octopus. All metals are in their natural, ''
form as found. Entire piece has several coats p #
of clear automotive paint making it weather
resistant. As a car. The artwork has been
fabricated with over 200 man hours. "" •

•a
_ ; Exterior lighting will be on the 7 foot concrete pad
with weatherproof 3 watt LED up lights for a nice
,', \ evening display.
f . ..Jr x .,. ' .,,,
' Maintenance: The artwork requires minimal
maintenance as it is clear coated with several
,,. _ , protective coats of automotive grade paint.
Recommended maintenance is waxing once a year
as a car.
Installation and completion will be scheduled and delivered upon request from owner.
Sculpture siting and installation description:
PAD: Sculpture will be placed on top of a custom concrete pad. The pad is 12 inches high and 6 -7 feet round.
This large circular pad will allow the piece to stand alone giving the public safety from any edges of the
sculpture. The concrete pad will be sloped so water will drain away from the art. The Pad will contain proper
anchoring for the metal sculpture to be welded directly into the concrete pad to meet the City's wind Toad
requirements.
VISIBILITY: The sculpture location is just north of the front entrance public space of the hotel and will be visible
and accessible 24 hours to hotel guests and the general public.
SETTING AND DISPLAY: In the small front entrance public space courtyard setting surrounding the sculpture
will be 3 bench seats. The sculpture is 6 feet in diameter and 6 feet high. On the 12" base the total artwork
height will be an approximate 7 feet tall. The setting consists of a circular brick paved pathway around the
sculpture with a 6" riverstone band giving the setting a water type effect without the problems of having actual
water interacting with the sculpture.
LIGHTING: Sculpture will have 3 custom LED lights in the pad uplighting the sculpture.
PLAQUE: The artists, artwork name and description will be displayed on a permeant plaque made of etched
metal (weather proof).
