Mayor Broening called the meeting to order at 6:35 P.M. and stated that City Attorney
Cherof wished to make an announcement.
I. PUBLIC HEARING ON 2000/2001 PROPOSED BUDGET
City Attorney Cherof declared that this was the first of two public meetings to be
conducted by the City Commission as part of the statutory process to adopt the millage
rate and a budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The second and final public hearing on
this issue will occur on September 20, 2000 at 6:30 P.M. in the City Commission
Chambers. At the final hearing the City Commissioners will adopt the millage rate and
the final budget. The purpose of tonight's meeting is to consider the proposed millage
rate and the tentative budget.
City Attorney Cherof stated that the proposed millage rate is 7.8160, which represents
an increase of 2.16% above the computed rollback rate. The statute requires that the
first item for discussion this evening is the increase in the millage rate. Members of the
public have the opportunity to question the administrative staff regarding proposals in the
budget or changes in the millage rate. When that is concluded the City Commission's
formal action will occur through the adoption of two resolutions and one proposed
ordinance. The first reading of the ordinance is tonight and the second and final reading
will be at the meeting on September 20, 2000.
Mayor Broening opened the public hearing, asking if anyone wished to speak.
No one came forward to speak from the public.

PROPOSED RESOLUTION #R00-125 REFERENCE ADOPTION OF
TENTATIVE MILLAGE RATE FOR FISCAL YEAR 200012001
Mayor Broening said that the Commission had before them the Resolution #R00-125
which was the Adoption of Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal Year 2000/2001 set at
7.8160. Mayor Broening asked for comment or questions from the Commission.
No questions or comments were made by the Commissioners.
Motion
Vice Mayor Weiland made a motion to approve the Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal
Year 2000/2001 set at 7.8160. Commissioner Black seconded the motion that carried
unanimously.
III.
PROPOSED RESOLUTION #R00-126 REFERENCE PROPOSED
RESOLUTION #R00-126 REFERENCE ADOPTION OF TENTATIVE BUDGET
FOR FISCAL YEAR 200012001
Mayor Broening said that the Commission had before them the Proposed Resolution
#R00-126 regarding the Adoption of Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2000/2001. He
asked for comments or questions from the Commissioners.
No questions or comments were made by the Commissioners.
Motion
Vice Mayor Weiland made a motion to approve the Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year
2000/2001. Commissioner Black seconded the motion that carried unanimously.
IV.
PROPOSED ORDINANCE #O00-48, REFERENCE ADOPTION, OF TENTATIVE
BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2000/2001
City Attorney Cherof read the Ordinance by title only and stated that the normal motion
procedure and roll call vote would apply.
Mayor Broening asked if anyone in the audience wished to speak. No one came forward
to speak.
Motion
Vice Mayor Weiland made a motion to approve Proposed Ordinance #000-48 reference
Adoption of the Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2000/2001. Commissioner Black
seconded the motion. Sue Kruse polled the vote. The vote was 4-0 in favor of approval.
