A number of students in Boynton Beach High School's Theatre Academy have qualified to attend_the 4
International Thespian Society's Florida State Thespian Festival in Tampa this March. Theatre Academy,
students have participated in two International Thespian Society District Competitions this year .
including the One -Act Festival and the -individual Events Festival. The purpose of this request is to raise
enough money to offset the cost of our trip to the Florida State Thespian Festival in Tampa this Spring.
Describe the goals of your progrtm iri. detail:
Attending the Florida State Thespian Festival is a huge opportunity for the students in the Theatre
Academy at Boynton Beach Community High School. This trip will provide these students with
performance, learning and networking opportunities within the Florida theatre industry. Students will
be able to participate in a number of different workshops focused on teaching them new theatrical skills
and help them grow as artists. Along with the workshops, a number of our students will be competing .
against other Florida theatre students for ratings, scholarships and college acceptance letters. This
festival gives students from all over the state of Florida the opportunity to meet and socialize with other
like-minded students who share the same passions and interests.
Describe the needs of your. program:
i
In order to attend the FL State Thespian Festival, the Theatre Academy needs some financial help. The
cost per student is $400.00 to attend the festival; this includes transportation, registration and lodging.
However, we still need a little bit of help in order to cover the total amount we will need. After each
student pays their fees, our troupe will Still need about $3500.00 to cover the deficit.
