Piano in street
Ken Wilbanks, GCB Director - Enjoyed the opportunity and want to be a part of this City
and it's events. I did a walk around during the Jazz Band & our vocalist Donna Singer
and the music was heard from all around due to the acoustics of the amphitheater. You
hosted a very professional event
FOOD
Not enough attendees to sustain food concession suggested to have artwork/kinetic
art booths in the street
Different prices - some cheaper

Full Artist Statement regarding the Artwork
Statement
The Moon Fish is a symbiosis between many elements
that although are contradictory to one another, still
merge harmoniously into a whole. Its name comes
from the ocean fish moonfish, which I find astonishing
due to its loco -motor system; the way it slides and
slants during its underwater flight is made spectacular
by how its pectoral fins are horizontally aligned. This
particular aspect has inspired me to develop a
' biotechnological hybrid that borrows and then mimics
these biomechanical and bioluminescent elements
outside the water. This is the likely equivalent of a
possible evolution of this animal in an environment
other than aquatic, and it is out here that the moonfish
becomes a futuristic being true to its name, one that
lives on the Earth's natural satellite. However, since we
know of no beings to exist on the Moon, this hybrid fish
may very well become the sole permanent inhabitant of
'the satellite. This imagination exercise born out of a
play on words, that were thrown together into a context
that is literally realistic, turns into a challenge both for
the viewer and for the environment meant to host the
sculpture, which can have the role of a replica or of a
clone of the one on the Moon. Regardless of the
context, the most important thing is the uniqueness of
the object, which reflects - from an artistic standpoint
and in a contemporary way - many stages in the history
of kinetic art and new media, so much so that we have
mobile elements that are electro -mechanically set in
I motion, as well as and mingled with sensors and vivid
lights that interact with the viewer via digital
technology.
Since this installation will be put together in a public
space, it becomes also somewhat of a street -art, as it
does not represent a themed monument, but rather an
eye-catching interactive m6lange whose concept and
physical appearance blends subtly into the
background.
