OLD BUSINESS
At the request of ~ayor Banks, Mr. Kain explained briefly
a letter that ~ad been received from tho Boynton Beach Chamber of
Co~nerce in ~hich the Chamber had aske~ that the City look into
the problem of unlicensed business men doing business in the City.
14r. Kain informed Mr. sam Greene, who ~ms ~resent in the audience,
that the Council had recognized this problem when the budget for
the coming year had been made and bed included therein necessar~
funds to hire an additional inspector in the Police Department
whose prime job would be to check on reported unlicensed persons
doing business in the City and follow through on a day to day
basis.

immeS/ately hire a license inspector at a salary of $2600.00 per

Fire Chief ,~right gave a brief ~alk on Fire Prevention ?~eek.
He stated that four troops of scouts had ~elivered 4,000 safety
home check sets throughout the City.

Boynton Beach, Fla.
October 5, 1964
Mr. H. H. Weber, 1930 N. Wi 1st Street asked the Council
when he could expect something to be done about a City owned
lift station located on N. ~;. 19th Avenue which had been unsight-
ly for some time. Mr. Summers and ~. Madsen assured himthat
beautification of the lift stationwas already under consideration
ar~ he ~ould see direct results in the near future.
~,~. Mahoney told those present that $2,000.00 had been
placed in the budget for the coming year for beautification of
all lift stations around ~e City.
LEGAl_
The City Attorney announced that in connection with the
recent sewer refunding program that all front footage sewer
assessment liens had been effectively eliminated and that no
charge for such liens would be made against property owners
within the City in connedtion with the sewer program, and that
the City would notify any persons holding monies to pay these
liens that they could nowrelease said funds.

Call for Tenders
Mr. Mahoney moved that the City Clerk be instructed to adver-
tise a call for tenders from persons holding the City of Boynton
Beach 1949 Refunding Bonds and that the date of November 2,1964,
be set for receiving and opening. F~. Summers seconded. Motion
carried 5-0.
A_~preval of Bills
Hurricane Expense -,Ed Clanton Trucking Co.
Mr. Madsen moved that the Council approve payment of a bill
in the amount of $1,25~.00 from the Disaster Fund to Ed Clanton
Trucking Company, representing r~ntal of two trucks from Septem-
ber 14 thru 18 inclusive and September 21 thru 24 inclusive.
The vehicles were used solely for removal of trash caused by the
hurricane. ~,~. S~%~mers seconded. Motion carried 5-0.

Mr. Archie moved that the Council approve payment of two

}~r. Mahoney moved that the Council accept the reports of
the Building DeDartment, Treasurer and Tax Collector for the
month of September 1964. ~.lr. Archie seconded. PIo~ion carried,

Mr. Kain reported that the installation of traffic signals
on Seacrest at 23rd Avenue SoUth, 15th Avenue South, and 10th
Avenue North were planned. However, since Seacrest Blvd. was a

county Road their permission had to be obtained before any signals
could be installed. The county ~t the present timehad the traf-
fic counts made by the local police department an~ theY are in the
process of analyzing these. Hr. Kain said that as soon as the
City received permission from the County the signals would be
installed as funds had beenprovided for them in the new budget.
They would be traffic-actuated-sequencers.
At the ~eq~st of Mr. Madsen, Mr. Kain expla%ned the program
of weed eradication in thecanals that had beendi~ectedbythe
Council. He e~lained that the chemical that had ~een used in
the first application had beenremoved from the m.a~.ketby the
manufacturer and that at pr~esent 'the CountyNoequito Control were
experment/ngwi~h other materials. As soon as some product was
found that would be effective and applicable, the application
would be made.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
