Minutes 11-14-62MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL HELD AT CITY BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 1962~ PRESENT: THO1VLAS A,~ SUMMERS, MAYOR JOHN L~- AECHIE, ,COUNCILMAN VfALTEtt A. CITY MANAGER ~A PADGETT, CITY GI,ERK ABSENT: ALLISON BANKS, (out of tov~) 31~vfES J~-AfIAHONEY (ill} This meeting was called by Mayor Summers at 11:00 a.m., primarily for the purpose of taking action on obtaining necessary equipment for the Shuffleboard Courts to be used at the State Totlrr~ment on December 1, 196Z. Mr. Madsen moved that the City proceed v/irk the work on Pence seconded 'by Mr. ~urchie and unanimously carried. After discassion in regard to equipment needed for the State Tourna- ment to be held at the new Shuffleboard Courts, 1%iayor Summers agreed to loan a stove and refrigerator until council has time to go out for bids, a~d deliver equipment to the pr~rnises. The City Manager advised that he had obtained advertising from "Maggie & Jiggs "in Lake Worhk in regard to tables that are about I/Z price. Mr. iViadsen moved that the City Manager be authorized to look at the tables in Lake Worth that are on sale and if they meet %vith his approval, that 8 tables be purchased (30 x 96 - banquet,~p~) and twelve card tables, (part to be with checkers imprint on top}. Motion' seconded by Mr. Azcchi~ and unanirnousl~ carried. Mr. Afmdsen moved that theCiW proceed with landscaping up to the amount o~ $500.. for gr~ss and trees and that the labor be done by the City crev¢ and that the gr~ss and trees be purchased based on the lowest com- petitive bid. Motion seconded by Mr.-Archie and unaa%zmousty carried. Mr..Archi~ moved that Resolution 62-000 be ratified in that it possibly did not receive official action at the last regular council meeting through an oversight, Motion seconded by Mr. Madsen and unanimously carried. Mr. A,rchie moved that inasmuch as this is an emergency, the City p~rchase 24 peel cane chairs a~ the loxvest competitive bid, to be used at the 'State Shuffleboarcl Tournament on December 1st. Motion seconded by Mro 1Viadsen and unaninaously ca~ried. Mr o: A4adsen moved the request to close in the northwvest corner of the shop be approved and ~hat construction begin as~ soon as possible and not to exceed $150G. lv~Otion seconded by iVir. ~-rchie and unanimously carried. (This ~vas requested because sand has been bto~ving into hydraulic eqaipmento ), Mr. Archie moved that the City spend up to $100. for trophies to be given at t~ie State Shuffleboard Tournament £ro~a the City of Boynton ~Beach a~d that funds come out of cornrnunity promotion budget. /vlotion seconded by Mr o ~VIadsen and unanimously carried.
