Library Advisory Board Minutes
April 27, 2016
The Library Advisory Board meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Barbara McGee, chair. All board
members except Tracy Tebo and Barbara Wineberg were present. The meeting minutes from Feb. 24 and March
23, 2016 were approved as distributed.
Correspondence: Craig received notification from Tracy that she would be absent.
Public Audience: None.
Chair's Report: At the City Commission meeting, Mayor Grant made very positive comments about the library.
Unfinished Business:
Craig Clark, Library Director began the staffing update by announcing that Dottie's position will be posted in May.
Another currently open position—Library Aide/Customer Service will also be posted. Tiffany is interested in
applying for one of the positions and moving up from her part-time administrative aide position.
Craig distributed the consolidated statistics report for March 2016 for various library services. The Over Drive e-
Books numbers for March show an increase of 17% over last year. Zinio magazine circulation is also up
significantly with a 165% increase. In general,book circulation is down but attendance at our Teen and Youth
programs are up. The Unique Management Collection Service shows a total cumulative recovery of$42,495 as of
March 31, 2016.
The Adult Reading Club was reported to have 348 people registered with 229 already completed. An additional set
of 100 bags were purchased to fulfill remaining demand. The bags used for the Adult Reading Club prize are
provided by the Friends of the Library.
New Business: Craig announced a program on Saturday April 30th at Galaxy Elementary for incoming
kindergarteners called Jumpstart Bridges. He also postponed the Archives tour until the next meeting. Craig also
reported that the SEFLIN director has recommended that the library do the Edge Assessment which reviews our
technology against nine benchmarks. There may some grant money available for technology improvement.
Library Director's Report: Craig distributed the monthly report for March 2016 and discussed it briefly. He also
announced that the LSTA Grant Advisory Council has an opening,which he is trying to get appointed to, in an
effort to better represent the southeast Florida area. There was no media coverage to share but Craig did distribute
the Friend's Newsletter.
Due to an expected lack of quorum,the May meeting was cancelled.
The next library board meeting is June 22, 2016 at 4:00 p.m. in the meeting room.
The library board meeting was adjourned at 4:45pm.
