Mayor Weaver cslled the meeting to order at 7.50 P.M.
and said that owing to the delay in starting and the amount
of business to be transacted the reading of the minutes would
be dispensed with.
Mr. C-riffith read OrdSance 292 for the second time.
Mr. DeMarco moved, Mr. Rehburg seconded, that Ordinance
No.292 be accepted for the second reading. Motion ca~ried.
Mr. Griffith read Ordinance 293 , covering zoning, for
the first time.
Mr. Rehburg~moved, Mr. Partin seconded, that Ordinance 293
be accepted for the first reading. Notion carried.
Mr. Griffith read a letter regarding revising and codifying
the City Charter.
Regarding the query from Mr. J.M.hJacobs, of the Acme
Electric Shop, Inc., of Lake Worth, Mr. Grummons said he should
come and take a Master Electrician's test by the Electrical
Board, before operating in Boynton Beach. Mr. GEnnmons was
asked to write Mr. Jacobs to this effect.
A request for the trarmfer of a liquor license for the
Inlet Village Bar was requested by the new purchaser, ~r. John
Mo fey.
Mr. Shook m~ed, ~r. DeMarco seconded, that this request
for a transfer of license ~take take the usual course through
the State Beverage Control Board. Motion carried.
The Chamber of Commerce having received many complaints
regarding the nuisance of door-to-door sellers of magazines,
obtained a cop~-0f a model ordinance from West Palm Beach pro-
hibiting such solicitations. Mr. Griffith was asked to draw
ip a similar ordinance for Boynton Beach.

Mayor Weaver thanked Mr. Shook, who has served eight
years on the City Council, and Mro DeNarco who has served
two and a half years, including one ~ar as Vice Mayor~ for
their conscientious work and able assistance in carrying on
the business of the City. He said he thinks a v~te of thauks
is due to them.
The City Clerk then proceeded to swear in the two newly
elected Councillors, Mr. L.S,Chadwell and Mr. Harvey Oyer,
and the re-eSected Councillor, Er. Nott Partin, who all took
the oath of office.
Mayor Weaver welcOmed the two new members to the Council
and said nominations were in order for a new Mayor.
~r. Chadwell nominated Mr. Nott Partin.
There being no further nominations, the nomination was
declared unanimous, and Mr. Partin was elected ~ayor for the
coming year.
Mr. Weaver nominated_N~. Rehburg as Vice Mayor. There
being no other nominations, Mr. Rehburg was elected Vice Mayor
for the coming year.

A plat of the Bm~nton Isles Subdivision wa~ again sub-
mitted for tentative approval. ~
Mr. Weaver moved that the plat be given tentative approval
pending approval of water plan and cehtificate from the
surveyor that the level of this land is six ~eet above sea
level. Mr. Oyer seconded. Motion carried.
A Resolution was read regarding new streets to be put in
in Arden Park.
Mr. Weaver moved that the Resolution be adopted.
Oyer seconded. Notion carried.

views.

read.

J.H.Robinson of Palmetto Market applied for a transfer of
his license from ll6 N.~. 4th Street to his new location on
Second Avenue.

The Building report for the month-of December was read,
amounting to $355,950.00. ~
A letter was read from Mr. M.F.Shatte, Custodian of the
Shuffleboard Courts, requesting ~n increase in pay.
Mr. Rehburg suggested the Shuff&eboard Club be turned over
to the Recreation Board for study, as being one of the recreation
centers of the City.
Mr. 0yet moved that the request of Mr. Shatte be tabled and
referred to the Recreation B~a~d. N2~. Rehburg seconded.
Motion carried.
A letter was mead from Mr. Ronald E. Purdon, of the State
Board of Conservation, requesting ~e~ission to erect a sign
on lake shore for the Board (pertalfilng to netting in lake).
Mr. Weaver moved, Mr. Rehburg seconded that this request
be allowed. Motion carried.
Two petitions have been received from residents in Bowers
Park, on Second Avenue: One requesting street lights. The
Florida Power & Light engineers have been asked for $ survey.
The second a request that trash be cles~ed away. Mr. Taylor has
been asked to look into this.
A letter was read from C~Bter-Kern Inc. enclosing an
aerial map showing a septic tank alongside the Lyman docks.
It was agreed to await the next Council meeting when the
matter will be taken up.
Police Chi~.Cs~ver read a letter of resignation from
Police 0fficem Kenneth 0'Rourke,~ to take effect January 15, 195V.
He asked that the Civil Service Board set a date to
advertise an'exmmination.
~. Weaver moved, Mr. Rehburg seconded,~ that Police 0~ficer
Henderson be paid for twelve days' work on ~olidays for ~hlch
he was not compensated° Notion carried.

Mr. Weaver moved that Clayton Willisms be a~pointed,
without pay, to perform the duties of special policemSn as
suggested~y the Police Chief. Mr. 0yet seconded. Notion
carried.
It was reported that some water users in Ocean Ridge
have been overcharged by being recorded in the wrong book.
Mr. Weaver moved, Mr. Chadwell seconded, that such users
be given credit for any balance due to them owing to the error.
Motion carried.
Mr. Weaver moved that the City lay the pipe in Bellsmy
Heights, cost of materials to be paid fo~ by the developer
and signed over to the City. Mr. Rehburg seconded. Motion
carried.
Mr. Weaver moved that the City Clerk and the Water
Superintendent be autho~ised to have water toSS,wells driven
both in the sixteen acrs and ~wenty acr~ locations owned by
the City, as most feasible at the present time. Mr. 0yet
seconded. Motion carried.
M~. Weaver move~ that ~ Resolution be adopted to direct
Mr. Ta~lor to pre~mre a ResoSution estimating the cost of
repairing West Ocean Avenue from N.W.~si~d~ westward, for
next Council meeting. Mr. Rehburg seconded. Motion carried.
M~. C.R. Warner presented a tentative plat of Forest
Hills, West of Seacrest Avenue, and said they were ~aving
difficulty in getting acce~ss to Seacrest. It was agreed that
the hospital authorities should be consulted as to the possi-
bility of their giving a R/~ across their ten acres.
It was agreed that an Executive meeting be held Monday,
JanuaNy 12, to discuss the plans, etc., for the City.
There being no further business, Mayor E~artin adjourned
