The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7.30 P.M.
ne newly elected Couneilmau, ~Lr. Albert DeeR, ~ud re-
elected Councilman Stanley Weaver, were swo~n in by the City
Mr. Shook nominated Mr. P.L.Purinton for Mayor.
Hood seconded. Motion carried.
~. Purinton said he had asked each of the other fo~
Councilmen if they would take over the office of Mayo~, and
each had refused, and that he would take it over and do the
ve~y best he could.
Mr. Shook moved that Mr. Deen be appointed Head of the
Sanitary Department. Mr. Weaver seconded. Motion carried.
Mr. Shook moved that Mr. ~Yeaver take _his foyer position
as Head of the Water Department~ ~t~on carried~
~. Hood moved that Mr. Paul Stoezel be aooointed as
temporary Judge, as being the most expe~ienced-~f all the
applic~uts for the position, being highly reco~nuended and having
time for the Job. ~. Weaver seconded. Motion carried.
M~. Hood moved that Mr. Jack Gardner be appoi~uted temporary
Elect_~cal Inspector. Mr. Hood seconded. Motion carried.
Mr. Hood moved th~ the follo~dng ~ive members be appointed
to the Plaguing Boated: ~. Joseoh W.Todd~
~. Robert McDonald.
~r. Allen H. Nyquist,
~. L.E.~uadwell, and
He~y Merkel
and that if it was rotund that more help was needed, two extra
~e~bers could be appointed to the Board. Mr. Hood seconded.
Motion carried.
i~. Hood moved that all other City Departn~ent Heads and
Boards remain as they ~e~ !~. Weaver seconded. Motion
carried.

A resident of Laurel Hills asked if a b_y ~d~ant could be
installed nea~ his ~ome~ ~ud was told that this was not
possible as there was only a 2".pipe there. The Mayor said
the pipes should have been put !n in 1947~ and that the City
could not put in i
p pcs in new developments; that no plato
a~e now being accepted ~uless a~ready complete, or a bond is
given that the pipes will beput in as needed.

Mr. Hood moved and Mr. Weaver seconded that the minutes
be accepted as read. Motion carried.
A letter was read from the Boynton Beach Recreation Club,
dated January 4~ 1954, requesting various items of upkeep for
the building.

Mr. Shook moved, Mr. Hood seconded, that Mr. Ma~meister~s
resignation from the Public Housing Committee b~ ~ccepted.

M~. Gr~z~m~h read amending Ordinance No.250 for the
second time, Covering
Mr. Weaver moved that Ordinance Noo250 be accepted for
the second reading, and that any fees paid in conflict with
the amendment should be re-funded. Mr. Hood seconded.
Motion carried.

Mr. %~eaver asked ~f ~uy~hi g had ~een done about hydr~ts
for Bo~w~ton mud Cee~n Ridge, saying that 0ce~u Ridge has paid
for fLre aud police protection but not for hydrants. He

suggester that _{~. Griffith look into the contract and
0ce~u Ridge that the bill for hydrants is past due and s~hould
be paid.
Mr. Griffith suggested that if 0ce~n Ridge did not pay~
the City should stop all services, such as fire and oolice.
He %~as asked to look into the matter.
The Mayor said that ~na~much as the City Hall will have
tc be enlarged w~_thin a few ye~s, it has been suggesteC
that a Building Fu~d be arranged to take care of suck expansion.
In view of the fact that the long job of sorting out,
tabulating and preparing fo~ cremation list of the cancelled City
bonds is about completed~ it was suggested that a little ceremony
be mace of the bunching.
Mr. Hood moved that the c~ncelled bonds be burned at the
Fire Departm~ent Barbecue on February 7, 19~. {~r. Weaver

Mm~. Bowles reported on his job as te~orary ~lectrical
~spector and said he had zoun certain clauses in the printed
reEulations which had not been followed.
~^ ~ s~ested that the matter be taken up by the
Elect~~r~r decision, and asEed M~. Bowles to attend
the nex~ meeting of tha~ Beard. i~r. Bowles said he would
be glad todo so, ~~ud was thanked for having pi~h-~hlt in an
e~ergency.
The Mayo~ expressed appreciation of the greatly increased
n~oer of citizens who corae to the meetings.
