ON THE 19TH OF DECEMBER 1959
The City Co. uncil convened at the regu.lar meeting at the
City Hall, at 7:30 P.M.~~ December 19th, 19~9
Councilmen Present:
Mr. F.L. Purinton
Mr. A.E. Shook
Mr. Ralph Ross
Mr. C.H. Hood
Mr. W.T. Woolbright.
The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
Minutes of the latest regular meeting, then those of the
special meeting were read by City Clerk Dorothy Williams. Comm-
issioner Woolbright moved and Commissioner Hood seconded the ac-
ceptance of the first minutes. The second were accepted on the
movement of Commissioner Woolbright, seconded by Commissioner Noss.
Bills were presented and accepted with the exception of two
which need clarification. Commissioner Woolbright offered to in-
vestigate the labor bill on the installation of the new siren atop
the fire house. Mr. Shook was asked to check the cost of re-topping
one of the shuffle board courts.

Waite Bird Farm asked permission to run non-scheduled buses
through Boynton as part of its guided twice-a-day tour. These
busses will deposit customers at Boynton eating places after picking
themup at the new waterway. Commissioner
Woelbright moved ~ seconded a motion to give
this permission.
A toter from Joe Hatless, local realtor, asked for information
on the proposed improvement of the Federal Highway from Lantana to
Boca Raton. Commissioner Neil McMillian fro~ Delray appeared and
gave more detailed information on the progress of this project.
Commissioner Woolbright suggested a letter to Mr. Harness thanking
him for his interest and explaining Mayor Purinton "will be able
to give him very definite information, shortly".
Shalloway Cleaners oresented, through City Clerk Williams, an
offerto number all houses in Colored Town, to facilitate that
company's deliveries. The consensus on this was this numbering
must be done after reference to city maps so allowance will be
made for future building, etc. Mayor Purinton explained maps are
prohibitive to buy, so new ones must wait for more imperative needs.
Ail present agreed one most pressing need is maintenance of our
roads and suggested a letter to City Attorney ~Griffith on legality
of allocating millage for roads. Police Chief Carver suggested the
city get its own grader and roller and might get aid from the
county.
C.W. Nelson who is building three houses across the track
asked for water on his property. Mayor Purinton said, since
Nelson is entitled to it, the cost etc., must be investi~ted
directly.
Mayor Purinton asked for a discussion on the proposition to
help Seacrest High School underwrite its band. Commissioner Wool-
bright moved $150 be given the "Seaerest Band Budget" by the
Commission. Commissioner Hood seconded this and it carried un-
animously.
It was decided, unanimously, to give $25 Christmas bonus
checks to regular city employees who have been three months or
more in ~eguiar employment. John Raulerson Superintendent of
Water Department was asked to make u~nhis list of eligible employees._
This was done by motion of CommissiohYHood and seconded 'by Commission
er Ross.
Next meeting date falling upon a holiday it was decided to
meet~ next, on Tuesday, January Brd, 1950.
There being no further business Mayor Purinton thanked the
visiting citizens who attend the meeting ~ then declared the meeting
adjourned.
