Hall~ at 7:30 P.M.~ ~pril 3rd~ 1950.

The meeting was called to order by the Mayor.
Minutes of the latest meeting~ read by City Clerk Dorothy
Williams were accpted on motion of Commissioner Hood seconded by
Commissioner Shook.

Mayor Purinton suggested the Commission look into the City's
zoning at the first oooortunity.
John Raulerson, Suoerintendent of Public Works~ nresented a "log"
on the work done on city roads to date.
A letter was read from Erskine Parks of the Boynton cooperative
Market asking an additional footage of adjoining land for storage
ourposes. This was tabled until the commission can visit the Olant
and get from Mr. Oarks the immediate program for the land's usage.
Mayor Purinton read the Treasurers report.
city Attorney Griffith reoorted he had written Bond Cleaners to
appear in court to answer charges their establishment maintains
hazardous and dangerous electrical wiring. Mr. Griffith said the
Electrical Inspector would re-inspect the Bond cleaners tomorrow
and issue andaffidavit if the wiring is "as was".
Commissioner Shook advised leaky roof of Boynton Fire station
be fixed. All aoproved.
Mayor Purinton asked the Commissioners to inspect a truck the
city might purchase for brush fires. Following a discussion of the
soecific needs of these wagons~ and ~heir efficiency in heavy sand~
commissioner Hood was made a comittee of one to inspect and report.
Mayor ?urinton asked Commissioner Shook to sketch a building
~nich might house the city's road equioment.
Attorney Griffith reported Allen E. King had asked a continuance
until April 1V of his appearance in court zo answer charges of main-
taining a oublic nuisance in to~,~_.
It was reported Dr. W.S. carper will deed to the ~ity a 50 foot
street right-of-way from Dixie to Green Street. All voted to accept.
(It was~ also~ decided to record the dedication on Lake Street with
right-of-way deeds)
A discussion of taxing the partially-built house of Leroy Hartley
was resolved ~aen all agreed his should not be taxed since it is not
habitable. The consensus was~ however~ some limitation should be put
uoon the lansed time Oetween the starting and the com=letion of homes~
with a succession of hermits as each ran out. No action was taken on
this.
It was decided to reduce the taxes of Adam McLean.
Mayor Purinton authorized John Raulerson to order i2 new wazer
meters.
Attorney Griffith asked ssencils be cut of all ordinances and
resolutions and a minimum of 25 copies made of each for files.
Commissioner Hood moved~ Co~nissioner Province seconded a motion
for the city to buy a mimeograph ~achine.
Harry Gel!er~ a visiting citizen, offered to donate one if it
cost $2~ or less.
A letter was directed to Gus Thompson returning the bill he sub-
mitted for the survey of his street and property. The letter will
exolain the city's only responsibility is the survey of the street.
Mr. Geller suggested the city might insert in its water bi!ls~
or other oeriodical statements~ cards asking all Boynton-ites to
ourchase cigarettes locally and help return a larger cigarette tax
to the city for local street imorovement.
Commissioner Merkel asked for suggestions to bring more businesses
to Boynton.
Uommissioner Shook said county taxes are too high for many.
It was decided to send a letter to County Tax Assessor Owen
asking for an appointment to discuss local County taxes esoecially those
on commercial prooerty.
Police Chief Carver asked what basis he should Day deouty ooliceman
Bill Bell who heloed oolice the Tombola.
John Bell asked to have his neighborhood zoned.
A meeting with the Zoning Board was suggested after Mayor ?urinton
cheeks with Paul Mercer.
Commissioner Hood suggested the ' ~ '
Comm_sszoners meet with some out-
lying orooerty owners who want to start exclusion suits.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned by acclamation.
