A. August 13, 7pm movie screening of"The Peanut Butter Falcon", Cinemark
Boynton
Chair McQuire attended the screening of The Peanut Butter Falcon as did other members
and he advised it was a truly an awesome, feel-good, touching movie. He thought it was
getting a lot of recognition and/or awards in Hollywood. It stars a young 21 year-old man
from Boynton Beach who has Downs Syndrome. The movie had a huge turnout, including

directors and producers, Hollywood names, and CNN and Fox news. The Gold Coast
Downs Syndrome organized the event and the movie was written for Zack. It had a great
turnout. On behalf of the Mayor, Chair McQuire presented a citation from the City to Zack.
Ms. Moodie thought it was a terrific experience. She had worked with Zack's mom when
she was fighting for Zack's inclusion at school. She thought it was amazing to see what
happens when one puts their heart into an effort despite labels and the connotations
people have. She thought the film was heartwarming and noted he was the first students
with Downs Syndrome admitted to Dreyfoos.
B. September 21, 6-9pm BBAD Art Walk "Summer Bash"
This item was discussed under New Business.
C. Burning Man review
Ms. Coles-Dobay explained she attended her first Burning Man event. Part of the reason
she attended was to look at what artwork was out there and because there are many
kinetic pieces at the event. She made a friend who is an original founder of the Burning
Man event who attended the City's event to look at the City's kinetic. It promotes an
exchange of artists to bring to different events. The Burning Man event is three miles
wide and attracts 70,000 attendees between August 25th to September 2"d. She attended
for two days and the event was held near Reno. The Burning Man was seeking to bring
art to other areas in the world. She gave a visual presentation of her trip. Planners and
city officials attend. There are 1,200 camps set up for the event. No commerce is
conducted in the park, only giving and exchanging occurs. Attendees can buy coffee and
ice, but they must bring everything else they need in and take everything they brought in
with them out. The event is held entirely with volunteers. The only thing the event pays
for is police, fire safety, nurses, doctors and others. There is an outer fence surrounding
the event site to catch anything they may stray from the camp. She advised there are
many people to network with such as museum and gallery operators and people
connected to other artists. There are delicious communal meals prepared by gourmet
chefs. Ms. Coles-Dobay met someone from the Cincinnati Museum and they rotated
some pieces from Burning Man exhibit at the Museum. The museum curator advised the
exhibit had the largest attendance and it netted the most amount of money in the history
of the museum. They have many public art features. The conference of Mayors also
attended. Additional information could be obtained by visiting. www.burningman.org.

back to the Arts Commission for approval. A visual was viewed. Haikus, artwork from all
generations and age groups were submitted. The sessions were very good and had a
large amount of people and discussions pertained to the Old High School, native gardens

next Art Walk.

A. AIPP booth and Board attend Sept. 21, 6-9pm, BBAD "Summer Bash"
Ms. Coles-Dobay reviewed the flyer advertising the above and providing the dates of all
the events up to June 2020. Artist Rolando wanted to try to tie non-profits to the events
and listed the themes next to the dates. The Board had previously reviewed the dates,
but Ms. Coles-Dobay updated what the AIPP would actually be doing. She advised they
need more volunteers. The September event will be features Kapok Park and display
sessions artwork on grids and the table. There will be a looping video presentation and
Artist Lucy Keshavarz would be present from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to show the public what
they are doing. The Arts Commission can invite the local community to be present and
invite them to the upcoming Art Walk. Chair McQuire requested members bring friends
or family to volunteer for the event. Mr. Silverio and Ms. Weiss volunteered to attend with
the Chair. Vice Chair Levine volunteered to attend the October 19th event showcasing
the Deep Ocean & Shore Reef Parking Garages with Artist Amanda Johnson.
(Ms. Weiss left at 7.42 p.m.)
Chair McQuire requested the members pitch in between now and the next meeting.
There is work to the event, and he can attend nearly every event. He commented they
do not have to set everything up every time. They had merchandise last time and not a
lot of people purchased. He thought the Arts Commission should rethink how the
structure will look like. Chair McQuire had provided a tent and he allowed the Arts
Commission to use it. He advised at the last show, people were very engaged. He would
like to get more email addresses. It was important to fine people to help out. The
members could skip an event if they wanted. Chair McQuire had the items for the event
in storage and he could leave the key with Ms. Coles-Dobay. He went there to pick it up,
but there were no lights there. Ms. Zell commented if Rolando can set the Arts
Commission up in front of her studio, she could help.
(Ms. Weiss returned at 7.47 p.m.)
