The artist Ms. Oyer had spoken about at the last meeting, Ian Wiskoff, who painted murals
at the South Florida Science Museum was present. Mr. Wiskoff explained he has been
in Boynton Beach for 15 years. He is from New York and attended the New York City
School of Visual Arts. He moved to Florida and worked in animation studios and web
graphics and started teaching three years ago. He painted the first mural for the Museum
in 2017 in the staircase. He provided conceptual drawings for the Observatory and he
was then asked to create a mural for the descending stairway. He finished the mural in
December. He runs the Art Club at school and wants to be more involved. Mr. Wiskoff
advised he was unaware of the Arts Commission. He uses art in his Civics class to help
students learn. He announced it works. He does art for his kids in class.

tour was held not many people RSVP'd. Ms. Coles-Dobay explained this last time there
were quire a few people and some calls. Seven individuals took the tour. One woman
was interested in becoming a docent and she brought people from Kendall with her. The

with artist Ralfonso and fabricator Eric Small of EES
The Arts Commission had previously voted not to attend the December Art Walk, but
would attend in January because the CRA is contributing to the event. Chair McQuire,
Ms. Oyer and Mr. Silverio planned to attend. They will have a big screen video
presentation and pictures. Ms. Coles-Dobay will present artist Ralfonso's work and the
video of the artwork being made. Ralfonso and the fabricator of the piece, Eric Small,
would be present to discuss the art. Both individuals are very engaging. Information
about the event was published on Facebook and the CRA website and a lot of advertising
and promotion was put into the event. It was noted January is peak season, and the Art
Walk will take place on a long weekend, so turnout should be good. The City is also
celebrating MILK Jr. Day at Sara Sims Park. Ms. Coles-Dobay noted volunteers will be
needed to set up the booth for the January 18th Walk. Chair McQuire agreed to arrive

Meeting Minutes
Arts Commission
Boynton Beach< Florida January 9, 2020
Ms. Coles-Dobay announced she has a new assistant she will bring to the meeting.
Ms. Oyer announced they have 19 entries for the Sister Cities art competition. Boynton
has been working with Delray this year and they did not receive any entries so they
extended the deadline. Sister Cities has been holding the competition for years, but this
is probably the last year as there was a shift away from the art. There are other
components to Sister Cities competitions and students are not applying for the art. The
art will be judged from 5:30 pm to 6 pm at City Hall on Quantum Boulevard on Tuesday,
January 14th. Ms. Coles-Dobay will send an email out, Ms. Moodie, Ms. Zell and Vice
Chair Levine will serve as the three judges. Ms. Oyer noted a Boynton student won the
last two years of the competition and went on to become the international winner, resulting
in Sister Cities using her drawing as the logo for their convention. The competition is
advertised through high school art departments.
VII. Project Updates/Approvals
A. Friday, March 27th Ralfonso's Kinetic Art "Reflections" unveiling in Town Square
Ms. Coles-Dobay explained the Town Square completion has many moving parts. The
kinetic artwork is currently scheduled to be installed the first week in March and the
unveiling target date is March 27th. The piece will be covered as site work will be ongoing
so as not to damage the piece's polish. Each artwork that is completed will have a
collaborative opening and be included. Ralfonso will put together the unveiling ceremony
and time, which most likely will occur in evening around 5 pm to 7 pm. Members could
save the date and think about suggestions for the unveiling and decide if they want light
refreshments. It is important for the public and the press to attend and the unveiling occur
before the sun goes down.
VIII. New Business
A. Election of Board Chair and Vice Chair
Chair McQuire asked who was interested in serving as Chair. Only Chair McQuire was
interested in serving as Chair.
Chair McQuire asked who was interested in serving as Vice Chair. Ms. Oyer and Vice
Chair Levine were interested in serving.

rotations, but had only served for a short time so she wanted to continue on in to the
Kinetic Art events. After this year, she would like to rotate. Vice Chair Levine explained
she has enjoyed the role. She enjoys working at the Cornell Museum and seeing things
from an art perspective, attending the Board and City Commission meetings as Vice Chair
