February 8th. At the January meeting, the members had discussed possibly attending
the event as a Board or individual, but no one did. Ms. Calixte-Dieuvil asked if anyone
attended the Artigras fundraising opportunity in Jupiter. Ms. Wilkinson was supposed to
provide information if volunteers were needed at the event, but it was noted the event
had already passed.
B. Fundraising
Vice Chair Murphy recalled the Board was contemplating holding a fundraising event at
Texas Roadhouse. He spoke to the Boynton Beach location and the manager was
checking to see if a fundraiser could be held because the Board is not a 501(c)3
Corporation. March 9th, March 16th and April 27th, 6th, and 20th were the tentative dates.
Depending when on the information is received he will select the April dates and if they
pick two nights, the Board could earn 20% of the profits. Vice Chair Murphy noted he
has held this fund raiser for other organizations in the past, and it worked out well.
C. Grants
Vice Chair Murphy explained Chair North was supposed to peruse the City's grants
portal to see what grants were available to the Board.. She had mentioned she planned
to present information at this meeting. This item woud be addressed, but will have to
wait until Chair North is present at the next meeting.

Ms. Claude explained the application is on the City's website and the information is
reaching the students. She already received one application fairly early and she was

of eligible students, they should direct them tot website and/or to her. Ms. Claude

have to live within the City limits of corporate Boynton Beach. Ms. Claude also
requested the members decide who would serve as judges. In prior years, one of the
three judges was the last year's recipient. Jeanne Heavilin, from Sister Cities, and
Kevin Homer of Boynton Cares have also served as judges. The judges could be
anyone, but it was important to reach out to individuals fairly soon. Recommendations
can be forwarded to Ms. Claude. Ms. Gadson inquired about how the recommendation
are made. Ms. Claude explained in the past, the judges do not have to get together at a
meeting. A scoring sheet is used and the scores are averaged to determine the
winner. Mr. Murphy explained he will try to discuss it with Boynton Beach High School
to ensure the counsellors are aware of the program.
Vill. Future Meetings March 26, 2020
