Library Advisory Board Minutes
April 22 , 2015
The library advisory board meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m.by Valerie Pleasanton, acting chair. All board
members were present except Jeannie Taylor and Barbara McGee. The meeting minutes from March 25,2015
were approved as distributed.

Chair's Report: Welcome new member D'Ette Matthews.
Unfinished Business:
Craig Clark,Library Director, distributed the Over Drive e-Books report for March 2015. The report shows that
Boynton's Overdrive patrons had 461 checkouts which is about 21%of the total.The Unique Management
Collection Services report was also distributed to the board. The collection service has collected$10,471 dollars to
date. In addition,the program has recovered over$20,900 in materials.Total ROI of the program is 3:1.
Ellen Mancuso presented a demonstration of the new Sirsi/Dynix Enterprise system which will be going live in a
few weeks,
During the staffing update, Craig said he will interview 2 candidates for Library Aide. Also, a part-time cataloger
has resigned and that position will be posted.
The Transparent Languages Database has 118 users signed up adhere were 288 language sessions during March.
Zinio,the new online reader and magazine subscription database had 60 checkouts in March. A new flyer about
the program has been released.
Assistant Director,Ann Watts,shared statistics on the Adult Reading program. There are 181 adults registered and
131 people completed their ten book reading goal and received a beautiful red umbrella with the library logo.
Craig discussed a proposed policy change which would permit children and teens to check out DVDs. The board
unanimously approved the policy after a discussion of the rules. Teens would be allowed to checkout J or YA
DVDs and children can checkout J DVDs. Neither can checkout Adult DVDs.
New Business: Craig distributed the 2015-2016 Budget Request. It includes the Digital Services position and an
increase for Police overtime. Health insurance is the biggest part of the increase. The City Manager will review
the budget request and the budget commission meetings will be help during the summer.
Craig also distributed copies of the Proclamation for National Library Week.
Library Director's Report: Craig distributed the monthly report for March 2015 and made note of the change in
audiovisual circulation due to weeding some of the non-fiction DVDs. The staff moved them back downstairs into
the full shelves due to public outcry over going upstairs to find them. Weeded material was sent to the bookstore
to sell to raise money for programs. Christine's Dollar General grant came through to purchase additional Super
Hero books including comic books to be used for an exchange program. Staff is looking for other funds for
additional titles. Deb Hoban mentioned she will not attend the May meeting due to a conflict.
The next library board meeting is May 27,2015 at 4:00 p.m. in the meeting room.
