ORDINANCE NO. 69 -~____ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SE C.TION .2 6-1 OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF SAID MUNICIPALITY,. IM-POSING . ~ EXCISE TAX AGAINST CASUALTY INSURANCE~COMPANIES DOING BUSINESS WITHIN THE MUNCIPAL LIMITS OF SAID CITY; PROVIDING FOR.AUTHORITY T.O C©D~I.F¥, SAVINGS CLAUSE, REPEALING PROVISIONS, AN EFFECTIVE DATE PENALTY PROVISIONS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1: That Section 26-1 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach be, and the same is hereby amended to read: "Sec. 26-1. Casualty Insurance Companies, Excise Imposed. There is hereby assessed, imposed and levied on every insurance company, corporatio: or other insurer now engaged ~n or carrying on, or which shall hereafter engai in or carry on the business of insuring with respect to casualty risks, as show: by the records of the Insurance Commissioner of the State of Florida, an excis or license tax in addition to any license tax or excise tax now levied by the city, which tax shall be in-the amount of two percent of the gross amount of receipts of premiums from policy holders on all premiums collected on casualty insurance policies, covering property within the city. The license or excise tax herein levied shall be due and payable annually on the first day of March of each year." Sedtion 2: Separabilit.~ Each of the provisions of this Ordinance are separable, including word, clause, phrase or sentence, and if any portion hereof shall be declared invalid, the remaining portion shall not be affected but shall remain in full force and effect. Section 3: Authority to Codif~L Specific authority is hereby granted to codify and incorporate this Ordinance in the City's existing Code. Section 4: Re~.provisions: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5: Penalty...Provisions: Any person, firm or corpor- ation convicted of violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be penalized by fine not exceeding $500.00 and costs of prosecution, or imprisonment not exceeding ninety days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section 6: Effective Date: Th[s Ordinance shall become effeclive at 12:01 A.M., July i, 1969. First reading this~D day_of 1969. Second, final reading and pat 1969.
