The meeting was called to order by Chairman Wohlleb at
7:30 P.M. Mr. Wohlleb explained that this meeting was
called to discuss the request byCouncil' for the Planning
and Zoning Board to recommend a parcel of land which would
be suitable for a recreational area including the possibility
of a municipal golf course in this area. Mr. Wohlleb stated
that he felt the Board does not have knowledge of what the
regulations are under the Open Space Program and that more
information is needed before they can make an intelligent
decision.
Mr. Patrick stated that the Planning & Zoning Board has not
been properly informed to make a recommendation of this sort
and he is opposed to making a recommendation at this time.
Mr. 01ds stated that he is not very familiar with acreage
and has not formed an opinion, but felt more information was
needed on this program.
Mr. Patrick stated he had asked Mr. Kain to write the
Director of Outdoor Recreation of Florida for information
so the Board Could find out what can be done through that
channel and also he felt a H.U.D. representative should be
contacted and get information on the Open Space Program. He
felt they would have literature and directions that they
could give the Board. Mr. Patrick stated he felt that it
would be necessary to have a workable plan and that the city
manager and City Council should work to that end and see
what is required. Mr. Patrick noted that in looking over
the area of the city that there are only three sections
that have enough ares in it for the purpose in mind. They
are the area north of the Boynton Canal, the area just south
of the new Boynton Road and west of Boynton Lake Subdivision
and the area. south of Golf View Harbor SUbdivision. There
are other areas north of the canal~ west of Congress and
just south of Boynton Road.

Mr. Wohlleb noted that Palm Beach County is planning a
Planning Council for the purpose of coordinating county
planning which is a part of the requirement to get funds
into the area. Mr. Wohlleb also stated that he would like
to know if there is a H.U.D. representative in this area
that could come in and talk to the Board.
Mr. Patrick moved that a statement be forwarded to the City
Council stating that the Planning & Zoning Board does not
feel that it has sufficient information to intelligently
make a recommendation for a recreational area at the present
time under the Open Space P~ogram. Mr. Keatts seconded
and the motion w~s carried 4-0.
Mr. Wohlleb stated that it is the Planning & Zoning Board's
recommendation that the city manager obtain all the perti-
nent information in regard to the Open Space Program and
in addition, any information from the Florida State
Recreational Department along with any personal contact
that can be made between the Planning & Zoning Board and
any representative in this ares in regard to the H.U.D.
Program. It is also recommended that the city manager
obtain pertinent information ss to what constitutes area-
wide planning insofar ss our city is concerned in regard
to this program.
