It was agreed that a letter be written to the Palm Beach County Resources Development Board asking them for any helpful information they could supply regarding tax concessions or other inducements mi~ich we might reeomm~em~ o~r City Government to give to light industry amd manufacturing firms with a pay roll of £§ or over, to encourage them to locate in our City. After a long discussion on the need for recreational facilities, it was agreed that the follo?~ir~ recommendation should be made to the Council:- The Planning Board feel that we have all neglected recreational facilities for our youth, and in order that there shall ~ot be a repeti- tion of what happened to some of our boys a few days ago, we feel that im~ediate steps must be taken to furnish adequate facilities such as ball parks, sv~i~ming pool, etc., for our youth. The Boar~ strongly recom~.~end that Pe.~ce Park and the fifteen acres of City-owned land on Second Avenue be considered for immediate use as lighted ball parks for night games for both the Little Leagues and the Pony League. This Board has been informed that the cost of such lighting is not prohibitive, and that neighboring cities have constmaeted and lighted some of their small hall parks for $2,500.00 to $$,000.00. 'We, as a Board, are not trying to get the City Council to appropriate money for these facilities, but to get ~novement starte~ by the citizens of Boynton Beach to make these things realities. We feel that if we have a~ything of value it is the youth of our City. There being no further business , Mr.McBride mo~ed, Mr.Fettis seconded, that the meeting a~journ. ~?~otion carried.
