P~SENT: Robert E. McDonald, Ann Barrett, ~len Nyquist, L. S. Chadwell,
and Fred i~oepnicko
~Mr. McDonald, chairms~u, opened the ~meeting at 8 P. M.
Mr. Nyquist read the minutes of the last meeting and they were approved as
read.
A .discussion was held on the advisability of preventing and eliminating
school zones'along the entire length of U. S. ~l within the city limits.
Thereupon ~r. Eoepnick made a recommendation that there be no schools
allowed East of the Highway° Ar~u Barrett seconded the motion. T~e board
was not in complete agreement on this motion and Mr, I~cDonald suggested
the reco~mendation be tabled.
· Arvn Barrett made a motion that the Planning Board go on record with a
recommendation to the city council for a tree preservation ordinance that
would~ preserve our trees and protect them from promiscuous cuttir~ back.
Also a permit should be applied for to cut or remove trees, t~. Nyquist
seconded the motion~ all in favor°
Tl~ere was unan~aous agreement among the board members that the following
reco~uendations be sent to the city co~_ucil:
lo That 0cean Avenue right of w~ be kept to 80~ from in~ra-coastai
waterway bridge to the Seaboard tracks.
2. That Palmetto Street (4th Ave.) have a right of way of 80~ from
N. E. Pud Avenue, South to the Federal Highway.
3~ A !20~ right of way for Wooibright Road and all ~mture extensions
East and Westo
4- In the future all business struct%~es be surveyed in order to
provide uniformity in setbacks.
Mr. Koepnick also made a motion that a rec~muendation be semt to the City
Council that our Lot Clearing Ordinance be em~orced to clea~u up our city.
Mr. Chadwel! seconded the motion; 'all in favor.
A sign ordinance of Delray Beach was read by Arvn Barrett and discussed by
the board. Mr. Koepnick made a motion that a reco~endation be sent to ti~e
council that an ordinance be ~itten up prohibiting all si&~s such as
billboards, real estate si~s~ etc., other than those placed on property
by o~ners for the purpose of selling and re,ting their o~n~ property. Signs
be li~ited to 2 X 3 Feet. Mr. Nyq~st seconded the motion; all in favor.
The subjects ~o4orougnt up to~ '~gi~e next meeting will be: 1. Alley opened up at La~e g~ Poinciana Street.
2~ Cle~ up the streets of our city.
3. Clean up colorto~n and check into its saniBary conditions~
4~, Review index of city ordinances.
