Dear Mayor and Commissioners:
FEB: 0
The Florida League of Cities is very pleased to be working with the Florida City and County
Management Association (FCCMA) on legislative priorities we will face in the future. In order
to help this association with their commitment, please reply as soon as possible.
The Commission/Council-Manager form of government is widely utilized in Florida. Most of the
professional managers who serve cities and counties are members of the FCCMA, which is the
professional organization for public managers. One of their key commitments is to continuing
education of their members, and to a strict code of ethics; two halImarks of their association.
Our plan with FCCMA is as follows: an issue will be identified that is a priority for the League
and the Florida Association of Counties - it may be as proponents or opponents. Once the issue
is selected, FCCMA will work with publicly employed lobbyists of cities and counties, and will
also contact - if authorized - those cities and counties employing private -sector lobbyists. I
encourage you to authorize your lobbyist(s) to work with FCCMA and I know it will be
beneficial Again, the issue selected by FCCMA will be one that is a joint priority of both the
League and the Florida Association of Counties.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or you need more information on the FCCMA,
please contact their executive director, Lynn Tipton, at (850) 222-9684 or !.tir~ton~fleities.com or
their president, Joseph Yarbrough, city manager of South Daytona, at (386) 322-3010 or
