The Local History Archives continues to collect, preserve, and make accessible historical materials concerning
the communities of Boynton Beach. We continue to make great inroads into making our collections available
online. Photographs and maps are now easy to view, and we have lots of additional content available online.
One interesting addition this month is a transcription of a letter from Bessie Muggleton to "folks up north"
detailing her experiences in the 1928 hurricane in Boynton. (https://www.boynton-beach.org/library/archives-

Creative Edge Studio Usage Report - By Christina Graves
This month I participated in a webinar hosted by United for Libraries which is a division of the
American Library Association. Through word of mouth, they heard about our Friends card making efforts and
wanted me to speak about the program. There were 3 speakers, myself in included. The webinar was an hour
long. It was a wonderful experience with around 220 attendees.
The Studio has more users who are proficient in their favorite machine. This has allowed my assistant,
Rebecca, to handle more appointments. In one morning, she can handle three (3) appointments at once
because everyone can be on different machines and need little to no help. It is a beautiful thing to see.
This month we held a card crafting event with our two new Friends of the Library members. They are long
time crafters from our Custom Card Crafting Program and wanted to join the Friends specifically to be a part
of the Handmade Cards sales. Our longtime Friends card crafter has starting make amazing gift tags for the
holiday season.
The public program, Crafting in the Library, occurred on the day that 1-95 was shut down due to that terrible
accident. For every program we wait ten (10) minutes to allow for late comers before we give up their seat to
anyone present from the waitlist. On this day, we waited fifteen (15) minutes. We had three (3) people
present from the waitlist and three (3) people from the registered list that did not show up, so that seemed to
work great. One of our patrons sat in the crawling traffic to make it to the library. She was very flustered when
she arrived forty-five (45) minutes late. She sat down a few minutes and our volunteer went over and talked
to her. Once she calmed down, she was willing to work on a wreath (we had a few extra supplies) and with the
help of our volunteer, she left with a beautiful wreath.
Public Technology Training Programs
9 one-on-one appointments: Met with a local author and helped her learn MS Word so she could work on her
files easily.Taught her how to perform certain tasks on her own, such as setting up a template on Word and
how to set up her desktop so she can quickly access certain files and website links.
Helped a local small business owner to set up her Facebook Marketplace shop. We went over how to
list items for sale, what sort of descriptions should be used, we also went over econ resources to figure out
pricing for some of her items.
Classes continue to be held in the Florida Room and has really improved the quality of classes I can put
out. The smaller setting is helpful for the classes that require a little bit more one-on-one help. The meeting
room makes it difficult to walk around the room and help—the Florida Room is the perfect size for classes
with 10 or less attendees.
All classes being held are now 90-minutes, and the feedback has been positive. The meeting rooms are
now exclusively being used for Friday programs—classes that don't require a laptop and can have a bigger
audience.
The South Florida Deaf Senior Citizens group reached out to me after my Scammers class and asked
that I present this program to their monthly meeting. They are experiencing a rise in scams and they are falling
prey to scams daily. I am doing an outreach with them December 12tH

AmeriCorps Kids Homework Help Monthly Report
October was an amazing month here in the AmeriCorps tutoring room! September prepared me well
for the influx of children wanting to get tutored, as there were many new children as well as "regulars" who
love the program. There has been one AmeriCorps volunteer who regularly comes in and it has been a huge
help for me this month of October. It has been incredible to see the children start to trust us more and feel
comfortable asking for help and wanting to get better. I have continued doing testing to see the improvement
of children month to month and I can already see an improvement in math. We continue to use flashcards
every day to push sight words and we have used phonics cards as well to try and work on specific sounds and
letter placement. I have also seen an improvement in recognizing certain words and being able to sound out
and spell certain words.
The donated materials of the books of different levels and the sight word, math, and phonics
flashcards have made a world of difference in the room. Similar to last month, children have loved being able
to have their own book to practice with at home as many of them do not have books at home. Another
favorite is the Spiderman math flashcards that have turned into a competitive game where children are
getting quicker at doing math. I have tried my best to make the room into a supportive and fun learning space
where children feel safe and not judged when asking for help. Many of the kids have started working together
and helping younger kids and the environment is feeling more supportive. I have enforced that no children can
judge others for what they do or do not know and have instead told them that it is wonderful they know the
answer, but others need more practice and that is okay. I have loved the fun environment of the room.
In the month of October, there have been 58 different students, most who come multiple times a
week, 2-3 days a week being the average. Most of the students are between 3rd and 5t"grade, like last month,
with the majority still being in 4th grade, although there have been younger and older kids coming in for help.
20 of the children and youth who came this month were new with the rest being those who came in August
and September. The subject that continues to need the most help is math, although many younger kids have
packets that have both reading and math. I can see a different since starting to record the starting reading
levels and the math timed test and I think by December, the growth will be very exciting. I will continue to
record them once a month.
October 2022 Monthly Report I Page 7
The sign-ups have not gone as smoothly as I hoped as many of the children and parents are used to
coming in whenever they can, but the high-school volunteer has been very helping in recording information
from the families coming in as well as monitoring the number of children in the room.
October was a very full month, but very rewarding and full of growth. I am looking forward to seeing
what November brings!

Creative Edge Studio Usage Report - By Christina Graves
The first weekend of November, 4th—6th, my assistant Rebecca and I went to Maker Faire Orlando. We
had a wonderful time and learned a lot. We learned about a new vendor for the wide format art printer who is
based out of Jacksonville. They sell the paper rolls and at a better cost then purchasing the Canon brand paper
rolls. They also sell the ink tanks, maintenance cartridge, and can service the printer should we ever need that.
It was at their booth I learned about a machine called a Plotter. Using a specific software, a user can print out
stickers (labels, logos, etc.) and then feed it into the plotter which cuts out around that sticker, creating an
easy to peel sticker.
3D printing is always popular at the Maker Faire. I learned that Prusa3D, which is a well-known and
award-winning Swedish company recently acquired a 3D printing company in Delaware (Printed Solid), which
would make it possible for libraries and schools to finally make tax exempt purchases from Prusa. This also
extends Prusa's reach for making parts, filament, and printers (one day maintenance services) more accessible
in the United States.
I wore my 3D printed horns to the Faire and got a lot of compliments. As always there are a lot of
vendors there, and we have started informing our regular Studio users about the Maker Faire, encourage
them to attend next year's Maker Faire.
A few months ago I attended the Economic Development's program called Business over Brews and
met a new person in need of signage for her small business. We discussed the process of using the wide
format printer and she created her sign using Canva. The sign was printed and I was able to visit to take a look.
It looks perfect.
This month I had a Studio appointment with a patron who owns a Glowforge laser cutter, but was a
little apprehensive about using it. In the appointment we discussed safety precautions and the steps to setting
up a project. She took to it quickly and I think she is ready to user her Glowforge at home.
Another patron who regularly uses the wide format printer has switch to the Glowforge with a new
project. I have another patron who switches between the Cricut and embroidery machine a lot, and has made
a recent appointment to have a go with the heat press.
This month we purchased a clamshell heat press, this a more ideal type of heat press for what we do in
the Studio. It is 16x20. This will help expand what we can do when it comes to sublimation sizes and iron on or
heat transfer vinyl sizes.

AmeriCorps Kids Homework Help Monthly Report
November was another successful month in the AmeriCorps after-school tutoring room. We had many
parents and guardians come in or call to talk to me about signing their child or children up. Many "regulars"
have continued to come in and love the program. The parents seem very grateful for having an opportunity at
free help as many of them do not know how to help them with school work on their own. One AmeriCorps
volunteer has continually come in to help the children and the kids all love her. It has been incredibly helpful
to me as well and I believe we will have another volunteer helping soon. Having more people help me with the
students is important because it allows the children to get more one-on-one help that is thorough and makes
more of a difference. If it is just me alone, I can only do so much with the large number of kids who come in,
but the volunteers have been incredibly helpful. With the children who need extra help, aside from
homework, the addition, multiplication, and vocabulary flashcards have been great. The books in my room
available to give away to the kids has also continued to be very important. The kids love being able to have
their own books to practice with or read at home. Also, I have continued doing the math testing, and there has
been definite improvement in addition and multiplication.
During November, 58 children came in with many of them coming in multiple times a week the entire
month. Most children come 2-3 times per week. 1st through 5th grade has continued to be the grades most
seen here with the majority of the children being in 3rd grade this month, however, 6 children were in
November 2022 Monthly Report I Page 6
Kindergarten and one youth was in High School. While most of the children and youth who come are
"regulars" and love the program, 17 children were new and most started coming back regularly. Math is still
the subject that needs the most help in the tutoring program, but many V through 3rd graders have packets
where they need help with both math and reading. I am definitely seeing growth in reading, but especially
math, and I know the month of December tests compared to Septembers'tests will be full of growth.
The sign ups have not continued as many parents did not completely understand that signing up for
times meant coming in at that time, and many people walk in for first time help and have not signed up. With
the help of the high school volunteer though, I have been able to keep the number of children in the room at
an amount that works. If it is too busy, many children and parents wait at the computers until I can finish up
with the current children and bring in more. I have gotten more confident in making rules and boundaries for
my tutoring room and it has given the children structure and allows for smoother program.
November was a great month with many new children and growth in many places within the children
and the program. It has made me very excited for the upcoming month of December!
AmeriCorps Adult ESL Monthly Report
The advanced beginners' class has completed the following topics as of the end of November:
1. Clothing(vocabulary words associated with clothing and accessories)
2. Discussing what they are wearing today
3. Colors
4. How to talk to a salesperson and express what they are looking for(I'm looking for a pair of black shoes.)
5. Review of American currency
6. How to read a sales receipt, a sales tag and a newspaper advertisement for clothing and appliances on sale
7. Language arts: the difference between a statement and a question and how to use the proper punctuation
8. The simple present tense
9. Question formation in the simple present tense using"Do and Does"
10. How to talk about different languages and nationalities
11. How to respond to simple present tense questions with short answers (Yes, I do./ No, I don't.)
12. Parts of the body
13. How to tell time
Forming questions in English is very difficult for ESL students, so we are moving a little bit more slowly in order
to allow the class sufficient time to practice and digest each new grammatical point.

Left Column
Accounts Submitted:Total number of accounts submitted for collection.
Bankruptcies:Total number of accounts in bankruptcy.
Incorrect Addresses:Total number of accounts for which we do not have correct addresses yet. Skip tracing efforts continue
for quite some time so this number is very dynamic.
Patron Disputes/Suspends:Total number of accounts where collection efforts have been stopped because the patron disputed
the debt or the Library suspended collection efforts as a result of payment arrangements, mistakes, etc.
Accounts In Process:Total number of accounts being processed through our collection service. This number is arrived at by
subtracting Bankruptcies,Incorrect Addresses and Patron Disputes/Suspends from the total number of Accounts
Submitted.
#of Accounts Activated:Total number of accounts that have responded in some way to reduce their balance. They could have
returned material, made a payment or a combination of both.
%of Accounts Activated., Percentage of processed accounts that have responded in some way
(#of Accounts Activated divided by Accounts in Process). This percentage is a good measure of response rate because it
measures the percentage of patrons that have actually responded due to the collection process,
Middle Column
Dollars Submitted:Total dollar amount due from all accounts submitted for collection.
Dollars In Bankruptcy:Total dollar amount due from all accounts in bankruptcy.
Dollars In Skips:Total dollar amount due for amounts with incorrect addresses.
Dollars In Dispute:Total dollar amount for all accounts that have been disputed..
Dollars In Process:Total dollar amount for all accounts being processed. This number is equal to the Dollars Submitted minus
