A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
URGING POSTAL SERVICE TO INCLUDE AREAS
SOUTH OF HYPOLUXO ROAD IN THE BOYNTON
BEACH POSTAL ZIP CODES.
WHEREAS, the City of Boynton Beach has traditionally included
more that one Zip Code; and
WHEREAS, a portion of the northern part of Boynton Beach between
the L-20 Canal and Hypoluxo Road has not been in the Boynton Beach Postal
Service; and
WHEREAS, during the past couple of years when asked about changing
the Zip Codes for the area south of Hypoluxo Road the Postal Service
reported that this would be considered; and
and
WHEREAS,,the Postal Service is now proposing changes in Zip Codes;
WHEREAS, the Postal Service has totally ignored the City and citi-
zens requests concerning the area between the L-20 Canal and Hypoluxo Road;
and
WHEREAS, the new Zip Code designations will unnecessarily continue
to cause great confusion.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Commission strongly urge and
request the Postal Service reconsider Zip Code designations and include in
the Boynton Beach Postal Area the land south of Hypoluxo Road.
Section 2. That Congressman Mica's office be requested to take
whatever steps he can to bring about a more reasonable Zip Code designation
than is currently proposed.
