A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING THE I985/87 PAY PLAN AND
ADOPTING CERTAIN JOB DESCRIPTIONS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH, FLORIDA:
That the municipal employees Pay Plan 86/87 "A" be amended
to include the new positions of:
Senior Dispatcher
Dispatcher II
Dispatcher I
Grade 26
Grade 22
Grade 18
That the municipal employees Pay Plan 86/87 "B" be amended
to include the new positions of:
Communications Manager Grade 35
Dispatch Supervisor Grade 30
That the following job descriptions attached hereto are
hereby adopted, ratified and approved:

in a supervisory capacity; or three (3) year's experience, one of
which must have been served satisfactorily with the City of
Boynton Beach. Must pass all required physical, psychological
and personal history examinations.

Oversee activities of communications to include
direct activities, monitor radio and telephone traffic

Communications Manager
Nature of Work
This is responsible administrative and technical work in
supervising and directing the operation of the emergency dispatch
telephone communications center in the City. Work involves
responsibility.for the organization, direction and coordination of all
such communications.
The person filling this position is responsible for operations
both shift and non shift personnel in both emergency and non-emergency
communications operations. Work is performed under the general
administrative direction of the Director of Management Services.

Dispatcher
Nature.of Work
This is highly responsible specialized shift work involving

Dispatcher I
NATURE OF WORK
This is responsible specialized entry level shift work
involving all aspects of public safety and non-public safety
consolidated dispatch center operations within the
Communications Division of the Department of Management
Services. This position is responsible for receiving
emergency calls, dispatching appropriate emergency
vehicles/personnel, monitoring various alarm and security
systems and related work as required. Requirements include
the operation of 800 MH trunked and VHF high-band radio,
enhanced 911, multi-lin% telephone, paging and computer
aided dispatch systems as well as maintaining logs and
recordS pertaining to their operation. This employee is

DISPATCH SUPERVISOR
NATURE OF WORK
This is highly responsible administrative and superviso~ry work
directing the operation of the City's consolidated dispatch center
within the Communications Division of the Department of Management
Services. This position is responsible for the planning, coordina-
tion, budgeting, training and technical direction of all dispatch
shift personnel in support of City E 911 and public safety/non-public
safety radio operations. Direct supervision is exerciSed over dis-
patch center shift supervisors (Senior Dispatchers) under the direc-
tion of the Communications Manager or his designee.- Requirements
include the operation of 800 MH trunked and VHF highband radio,
enhanced 911, multi-line telephon~, paging, microwave, and computer-
aided dispatch systems, as well as related logs and records. This
employee exercises considerable independent judgement and initiative
in the performance of the required duties.

Oversee daily operation of Center to include scheduling, person-

Assists in the preparation and administration of the department
