A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, TO URGE
THE STATE LEGISLATURE TO APPROVE A THREE
YEAR SENTENCE FOR SALE OF COCAINE ROCK.
WHEREAS, a proposal has been put forth by Lake Worth
Commissioner Roy D. Strohacker urging the State Legislature to adopt a
minimum mandatory three year prison sentence for any person convicted
of selling any amount of cocaine rock; and
WHEREAS, the availability and use of cocaine rock has become
a serious community problem and contributed to numerous medical and
psychological problems including death; and
WHEREAS, cocaine rock is an especially dangerous drug because
it can cause intense dependency and addiction after only a short
period of use; and
WHEREAS, the availability of cocaine rock presents a serious
health, welfare and expenditure of resource problems for the
community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council urges the State Legislature to
adopt a minimum mandatory three year prison sentence for any person
convicted of selling any amount of cocaine rock.
Section 2. Directs this Resolution be forwarded to the Palm
Beach County Board of County Commissioners, the municipalities of Palm
Beach County, and the mem§ers of the Palm Beach County Legislative
Delegation.
