Bertha Storm Panels are used to protect glazed openings
from windborne debris.
4. DESCRIPTION
4.1 Bertha Steel Storm Panel
4.1.1 Bertha 24 Gauge Galvanized Steel Storm Panels*are
0.026 inch (0.7 mm) thick corrugated steel sections
conforming with ASTM A 653 SO Grade 40 with a minimum
yield strength of 40 ksi [276 MPa) and galvanized under
ASTM G 60. The full panels are 15.119 inches (:384 mm)
wide and 2.25 inches (57 mm} deep. Panels are overlapped
for unlimited width openings. They are mounted directly to
the structure or by the use of mounting extrusions.
Extrusions for mounting panels are 6063-T6 aluminum alloy.
Mounting extrusions are 'h' header, "U' Header, 3'
Maximum 'U" Build Out, 3' Angle Build Out Bracket, B.O.
"F' Track, Reversed 'F" Angle Track, 'F' Track Angle,
Studded Angle, and Angle. The maximum allowable span is
8'- 11" (2.7 m) and the maximum allowable load is +65, -
70 psf (+ 3.1, -3.4 kPa) when the system is attached to
wood. See Table 1 of this report for allowable spans and
loads when the system is attached to concrete or concrete
masonry units {CMU).
4.1.2 Bertha 22 Gauge Galvanized Steel Storm Panels are
the same as the 24 Ga Steel panels described in Section
4. ]. 1 above except the material thickness is 0.030 inch 10.8
mm). The maximum allowable span is 10'- 0' (3.0 m) and
the maximum allowable load is +60, -65 psf i+2.9, -3.1
kPa! when the system is attached to wood. See Table 1 of
this*report for allowable spans and loads when the system is
attached to concrete or concrete masonry units (CMU).
4.1.3 Bertha 20 Gauge Ga/vanized Steel Storm Panels are
the same as the 24 Ga Steel panels described in Section
4.1.1 above except the material thickness is 0.036 inch (0.B
mm). The maximum allowable span is 10'- 0° (3.0 m) and
the maximum allowable load is +60, -65 psf (+2.9, o3.1
kPa) when the system is attached to wood. See Table ~ of
this report for allowable spans and loads when the system is
attached to concrete or concrete masonry units (CMU}.

The panels are 0.050 inch [1.3 mm) thick corrugated
aluminum alloy sections conforming with 5052-H32 or
3004-1+34 Aluminum Alloy with a minimum yield strength of
23 ksi 1159 MPa). The full panels are 15.119 inches {384
mm) wide and 2.25 inches (57 mm) deep. Panels are
overlapped for unlimited width openings. Extrusions for
mounting panels are 6063-T6 aluminum alloy, Mounting
extrusions are 'h' header, 'U' Header, 3' Maximum
Build Out, 3' Angle Build Out Bracket, B.a. 'F' Track,
Reversed 'F' Angle Track, 'F' Track Angle, Studded Angle,
and Angle. The maximum allowable span is 9'- 0" (2.7 m)
and the maximum allowable load is +65, -70 psf 1+3.1,
-3.4 kPal when the system is attached to wood. See Table
5. INSTALLATION
5.1 General 'Z-1643
The manufacturer's published installation'instructions and
this report shall be strictly adhered to and a copy of these
instructions shall be available at all times on the job site
during installation. The instructions within this report govern
if there are any conflicts between the manufacturer's
instructions a~c3 this report.
5.2 Allowable Transverse Wind Loads
The design wind loads on the shutters shall be determined in
accordance with 1606 of the Standard Building Codee and
2 of this report for allowable loads.
4.1.5 Bertha Clear Po/ycarbonate Panel
The panels are 0.060 inch (1.5 mm) thick corrugated clear
polycarbonate sections. The panels are 15.119 inches (384
mm) wide and 2.25 inches (57 mm) deep. Panels are
fabricated from Sheffield Plastic's HYZOD (SBCCI PST & ESl
9564D). The Bertha Clear Polycarbonate Panel is used in
coniunction with the 0.050' Bertha Aluminum Storm Panels.
Only one polycobonate panel is permitted for each set of
three panels. A minimum of one aluminum panel is required
to be installed immediately adjacent to each side of the
polycarbonate panel. A minimum of two aluminum panels
shall separate polycarbonate panels. The mounting
extrusions are the same as noted in section 4.1.4 above,
The maximum allowable span is 6'- 4" (1.9 m) and the
maximum allowable load is +65, -70 psf (+3.1, -3.4 kPa)
when the system is attached to wood. See Table 3 of this
report for allowable loads.

The installation of fasteners in'to concrete or concrete
masonry units (CMU) are based on special inspections. 'See
the SBCCI PST & ESi or NE$ evaluation report on the specific
fastener for special inspection requirements.
When Special Inspection is required as noted in this report,
tho owner or the registered design professional in responsible
charge acting as the owner's agent shall amply one or more
special inspectors to provide inspection of the construction
involved. The special inspector shall be a registered design
professional, a SBCCI certified building inspector, an
employee of a SBCCI PST & ESl or N.E.S. listed quality
assurance or inspection agency, or other third party qualified
person who demonstrates competence to the satisfaction of
the building official.
4.2 Large Missile Impact Resistance under $STD 12
The Bertha Storm Panels were tested for large missile impact
resistance under SSTD 12. The panels tested passed the
large missile impact test. The panels listed in this report may
be used to protect glazed openings from windborne debris,

Please be advised that the Board of Directors has approved your request to improve the Limited Common
area adjacent to your condominium unit upon the following terms and conditions:
That all improvements be strictly limited to the Limited Common Element area adjacent to the unit
as specified and defined in the Declaration of Condominium and the exhibits incorporated and
attached thereto. No improvements shall be made to any of the Common areas;
2. That the improvements strictly conform to the plans and specifications dated February 12, 2002
unless changes and modifications thereto have been approved, in writing, by the Association;
That all contractors comply with the roles, regulations and directions of the Association and the
CAMBRIDGE AT HUNTERS RUN CONDOMINIUM ASSOCIATION, INC. AND THE
PROPERTY OWNERS ASSOCIATION, INC;
4. That the Association must be satisfied that all contractors be fully licensed and insured and that,
upon request, certificates of insurance shall be furnished to the Association;
That all required govemmental permits be obtained and copies thereof be furnished to the
Association, and the improvement shall be constructed strictly in accordance with all applicable
codes. The Unit Owner shall fumish to the Association a copy of the certificate of occupancy;
That the improvement be fully landscaped, including the replacement of existing landscaping, within
30 days of its completion in accordance with the landscaping requirements of the Association. It
shall be the responsibility of the unit owner to comply with the Association's directions to alter the
irrigation system to service the new landscaping, and to maintain said alterations;
Notwithstanding this approval, the Association shall have no liability for any damages resulting
from water seepage, intrusion or otherwise, and, the Unit Owner shall make such changes and
alterations to the existing swales and drainage serving the premises adjacent to the Unit as may be
specified by the Association. The Unit Owner shall also install such gutters and downspouts as may
be recommended by the Association;

That if the improvement includes a foundation, it shall be treated for subterranean termite~ by
Terminix Pest Control. Failure to observe this condition shall impose upon the Unit Owner the costs
and expenses of any additional annual renewal fees, and the failure to pay this increase shall enable
the Association to enforce collection as if it were a regular or special assessment;
That all contractors shall secure all construction materials and debris so as not to cause damage to
any persons or property. The Unit Owner shall be liable for all injuries to persons and property,
including common areas, resulting from any construction or related activities associated with the
improvement;
That if the improvement includes roof tiles, they shall be the same type, composition and color of
the common area roof tiles. Should the Association subsequently change the type, composition and
color of the common area roof tiles, the Unit Owner shall, at the Unit Owner's expense cause similar
changes to be made to the limited common area roof tiles;
That the Unit Owner and all successor Unit Owners shall insure, maintain, repair, restore and replace
the improvement in accordance with the rules, regulations and directions of the Association. Upon
request, the Unit Owner shall provide to .the Association certification of insurance of the
improvement. Failure to construct or maintain the improvement in accordance with these
requirements or to observe the other conditions shall entitle the Association to institute enforcement
proceedings and all of the attorneys fees and costs incurred by the Association thereby shall be paid
by the Unit Owner;
That the Unit Owner provide to all successor Unit Owners a copy of this approval or of any
modifications thereto and no transfer approvals shall be furnished until the Association is satisfied of
compliance with this condition;
