Dear Mr. Krall:
Please be advised that on Monday, September 11, 1989, the Commun-
ity Redevelopment Agency for commercial ~edevelopment approved the
referenced site plan sUbject to the fOllowing three conditions:
(a) should the new 6 foot wide sign be bolted to the existing 8
foot wide sign, the existing sign must be reduced to 6 feet in
'!"width; (b) letter sizes shall not exceed 7" for :the,capital
J"'),etters and 4" for the lower case letters; and (c) the entire
~~building color, shall be changed to white eliminating the use of
"blue.
These plans were approved sUbject, to your compliance with the
above stipulations. After you have amended your plans to reflect
these stipulations, please submit two copies of final plan draw-
ings with the changes incorporated to the Building Department for
permitting purposes.

MINUTES - DOWNTOWN REVIEW BOARD
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA
AUGUST 8, 1989
Community Improvement's memorandum to Jim Golden, Senior
City Planner, dated August 2, 1989, and inconsistencies in
the sign which were enumerated. "A copy of Ms. ,Broomfield 1 s
memorandum labeled "Exhibit A" is attached to the 'original
copy of these Minutes in the Office of the City Clerk. The
TRB recommends approval of the sign, subject to the recom-
mendations of the Community Improvement Director.
Discussion took place relative to the limited approved
accent colors for signs in the CBD. This sign uses colors
not approved.
Since no representative of the applicant was present at this
time, the Board decided to postpone discussion on this item
until later in the meeting. The Board was hopeful that a
representative would be present later. Discussion on this
topic ended at 7:40 P.M.
The Downtown Review Board meeting resumed at 9:30 P.M.
Johnnetta Broomfield reported she had been in contact with
the Peppers. They were misinformed about the meeting
tonight. They were aware of the Community Appearance Board
meeting on August 14, 1989, but had not been told about the
meeting of the Downtown Review Board. Ms. Broomfield stated
the existing sign would*be taken down. The 81 size would be
cut down to 6' or less. The new sign will be bolted on that
so the existing sign will not show. The size of the capital
letters will be 7". Lower case letters will be 411. Ms.
Broomfield could not change from her color recommendation
because of the CBD guiqelines. The applicants would like to
go with the colors stated in their application. They now
intend to paint the entire building white. Colors will not
clash with the building color but would be different from
the guidelines in the CBD.

\ Chairman Walshak stated sign color would be a specific
matter addressed by the Community Appearance Board.
Chairman Walshak didn't feel it was appropriate for the DRB
to discuss colors. Since the City does have a plan in the
CBD, and that is what the CAB was established for, he felt
it would be their job.

Mr. Collins moved to approve the tenant sign, located at the
north side of E. Ocean Ave., between Federal Hwy. and the
Intracoastal Waterway, subject to staff'comments. Mrs.
Zibelli seconded the motion, which carried 5-0.

COMMENTS
The sign itself is an attractive sign and would blend in well in the CBD if the
following occur:
Proposed colors for the sign are good combinations but they do not match
nor are they coordinated with the existing building colors of blue and white.

guidelines recommends white, blue, tan, brown and green. Blue and white

to the sign face background is as follows:
