Re: Permit Cycle 1 – Planning and Zoning Review Comments
The planters at the parking structure have been designed appropriately by
the architect (Cube3) to provide adequate growing conditions for landscaping.
The planting design for the garage planters includes a mix of Coral Honeysuckle
(Lonicera sempervirens) and Corky-stem Passion Vine (Passiflora suberosa). These
plant species were selected since they are sprawling and do not require vertical
support and will achieve the desired effect of draping greenery.
Specifically, Coral Honeysuckle (Lonicera sempervirens is evergreen and
can handle varying sunlight conditions—full sun, part shade, and shade. It makes a
good ground cover without support.
While Corky-stem Passion Vine (Passiflora suberosa) is also evergreen and
can handle full sun to part shade. It works well as a ground cover with the ability to
fill the planting bed.
Drip irrigation and drainage have been provided in the planters. Please refer
to sheet L8-05 (Shrub and Ground Cover Planting Plan – Roof Level + Parking
Planters) for requested detail showing how the plant material will fill in the planting
bed and drape over the edge of the planter.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Bradley, PLA, ASLA
