3200 Old Boynton Beach Road live oak assessmentOn December 17, 2025, Horticultural Aspects conducted a tree assessment of a single tree located at 3200 Old Boynton Beach Road, Boynton Beach, Florida. The subject tree is a live oak (Quercus virginiana) measuring 14 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH). The tree is approximately 20 feet tall with an estimated canopy spread of 25 feet. It is located at the northwest corner of the Walmart building, planted in a landscape bed surrounded by open concrete within the building corner. Despite limited rooting space and the heat island conditions created by the surrounding hardscape, the tree is not exhibiting signs of significant stress, which is consistent with the resilient nature of this species. Based on an evaluation of the tree’s health, form, and structure, the tree has been assigned an overall condition rating of 60 percent - Fair - in accordance with the 10th Edition Guide for Plant Appraisal. The tree is in good overall health and exhibits fair form for the species. The canopy is slightly sparse, however, this may be attributed to seasonal leaf drop and is not necessarily an area of concern. The most significant defects observed are structural in nature. The lowest first-order branch has a relatively large branch aspect ratio and a narrow “V”-shaped union. Additionally, the tree lacks a single dominant central leader higher in the canopy and instead has three similarly sized co-dominant leaders originating from the same point on the trunk. The following Tree table and photos may be referenced for measurements and defects.
