He mentioned that if it were not for the efforts of the Commissioners and the staff of the City ot Boynton Beach helpin~ to expedite the Motorola project, Motorola would most likely not be in Quantum 'lark. I , Mr. Tambonestated that his company was hired by BGJ to help ev~luate where they should locate. They analyzed 15 different locations based on the following . . I critena: i · Description of the site - hotels, restaurants, and conference facili~ies close by. i · Housing availability - BGI will be hiring 300, to 400 individuals Jo start their' facility. With the expansion, this will increase to approximately 6yO. I , I · Environmental conditions - cost analysis, impact fees, permIt fees, etc., associated with the complete development cost to construct a facJl;ty. I . Incentive packages · Time requirements - BGI has certain timeframes in which they; need to get certain things approved because they are dealing with m~ny different individuals in different parts of the world. ' , · Transportation accessibility (Tri-Rail, 1-95, and the Florida Turnpike, the Palm Beach International Airport, and the Fort Lauderdale Airport) , · Competitive Real Estate Jose Diaz of HNTB Architects Engineers Planners reviewed some of: the criteria established for the project, including quality for the project, access and circulation, environment for the employees and visitors. He showed ~lides of the proposed project and explainedthe layout of the facility. He advised that there is going to be a'lpt of glass fenestration. The industrial traffic will be sep~rated from the visitor and employee .traffic. He anticipated that the necessary documents would be completed by the end of 1997, which would allow them to begin operations in late 1998. He anticipated the first shipments in the first or second quarter of 1999. Commissioner Bradley inquired about the starting salary range.' Mr.: Ravago advised that the starting salaries would be higher than the local starting: salaries ,because they do not want a turnover of employees. Because of the training programs and the type of product they manufacture, 'they . rely on their employees. He was also proud to work 'with the applicants who haVje peen very professional, and he looked forward to this corporate resident. !H$ made a commitment to work with the applicants to bring this to a reality a~ quickly as possible and welcomed them to the City. ! . Mr. Ravago was honored to be part of the Boynton Beach communit~. i i Mayor Taylor mentioned that there will be a walkway on the secon~ flbor of this facility so that visitors can observe the manufacturing process. He ~elieves that this. project is, setting a standar? for. devel~pment in this parkl ~nd future applicants may be measured against thiS. ThiS could be a model of what we want to happen in this park.
