CORRESPONDENCE '-.\ .~ DEPARTMENT OF DEVELOPMENT Division of Planning and Zoning Building Planning & Zoning Engineering Occupational License Community Redevelopment August 24, 1999 Alex Mitnik 3510 W. Boynton Beach Blvd. Boynton Beach, Florida 33436 Re: Knuth Rd. Gas & Oil- File No. 99-012 Dear Mr. Mitnik: In response to your request to modify the Knuth Road service station Site Plan, to add awnings at each end of the car wash tunnel, I am responding affirmatively; however, with conditions. As discussed during a site visit on August 21 st, you must place movement markings and signage to prevent excessive entrance stacking and interference with vehicles entering the site from Boynton Beach Boulevard. This signage must be placed so as not to confuse entering traffic, to direct patrons to the parking area, and stress the issue of safety to those patrons seeking a place in the car wash lane. Please either submit a version of the modified plans showing the location of both pavement markings and signage or manually place same on the plans previously submitted for this request. When you wish to discuss this matter further, please contact Jim Nguyen or myself at (561)742- 6267. Sincerely, 7~z- Michael W. Boynton Beach Blvd. Boynton Beach, FL 33436 :i " j~ , I ll"r, f I f999 August 10, 1999 Dear Mr. Rumpf; This letter is in response to our conversation yesterday, August 1 ath, regarding permit application number 99-2653. I understand your concerns regarding the car wash stacking. Our conveyor and the type of service we provide have a check & balance so that no more then 2 cars are being worked on at the drying area. At the car prepping station (entrance) we vacuum and prep the car for the tunnel wash, this procedure takes roughly 3- 5 minutes, at the drying area (exit) we dry the car and finalize all detailing, this procedure takes roughly 4 minutes. As a car is passing through the tunnel another is departing from the drying area. I have placed anti-collision mats at the exit of the car wash so that in case a car is delayed for any reason in the drying area the car in the tunnel will be delayed from exiting. I know of at least four car wash's that have less footage of drying area then we do and have a canopy covering both the entrance and exit of their car wash. 1) Mobil station in West Delray. 2) Mobil station on Biscayne Blvd & 190th Street. 3) Shell station on Sterling. 4) Amoco station on Hallandale Blvd. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, (561)374-5528. Alex Mitn k General Manager PS: As I mentioned to you, during our phone conversation, I have 4-6 people working outside in the car wash, they are uncovered to the elements and I am worried that someone will get a heat stroke from the suns rays. Less important but equally concerning is the fact that the car wash is recessed behind our convenience store, therefore it is almost invisible to the traffic traveling west. Tel(561 )374-5528 Fax(561)374-8578 All Cars In-Front of this sign are to proceed to the nearest parking space to await for service. Thank Yon "-;....,..~.:l ~..~*"~'.....:~?~ ' - \-\t-\ S~ <i'\ -Ole. The awnings would be installed at the entrance and exit to the automated car wash for preping the cars. The awnings are a metal frame construction and will be covered with white colored fabric.
