He indicates that abandonment is necessary to accomplish your purpose. Although I do not necessarily agree that abandonment is necessary, my opinion does not count on legal issues. Inasmuch as I am unable to locate any portion of our Code of Ordinances dealing with abandonment of real estate, I am providing you with a copy of the paper work which was submitted to the City Commission regarding a similar recent unsuccessful action. Perhaps it will be helpful to you. You may also wish to research Florida Statutes for guidance. We are unable to do that here in our office. Or you may wish to contact City Attorney Jim Cherof directly (276-9400) for assistance. Sorry we can't be more helpful.
