They originally wanted to use a woo siding to try and resemble a Texas Roadhouse. Even thoug the wood siding is allowed in our Modern Design District, thought there would be better harmony between this outparc 1 and the balance of the shopping center buildings if we did the Longhorn in brick, using similar color tones as tho e found in the split face block being used in the Best uy/Sports Authority buildings. We're using brick on the Lo ghorn building for 2 reasons; first, to match the scale f the building. You wouldn't use split face block on su h a small building because it wouldn't be in scale; second, I believe the brick gives Longhorn a distinctive 10 k, without being ostentatious. Regarding our appeal for relieve from u ing two window types and two wall accessories, the followi g are our thoughts: Presently the restaur ant has fixed glass. To add either spandrel glass or reflective glass wou d look ridiculous as well as destroy the look of a National Restaurant Chain. Likewise for the wall accessories, pre ently the restaurant has decorative moldings, to add alumin or steel grill work or accent tile would not be compatibl with the balance of the restaurant. Please keep in mind L nghorn is trying to create an image of a Texas Roadhouse t at matches the theme of their menu. P.O. Box 772530. Coral Springs. Florida 33077.2530. 30 /345-7000. At the request 0 f Doug McMillen who is in Minnesota on business I am wntmg to you to request consideration of two appeals to the Community design standards. Mr. McMillen wishes to appeal the requirement for wall accessories and window types in the Modern Design category for his new outparcel which will contain a Longhorn Steakhouse. We would ask that this appeal be considered as part of the site plan modification review that Mr. McMillen submitted for today.. If you should have any questions please feel' free to call me.
