DESCRIPTION: This is a request for relief from Section 10.F.G of the Community Design Plan regarding exterior lighting for Denny's Restaurant at 2201 South Federal Highway, submitted by Louis Fenkell, Capital Signs as agent for Denny's. Covered neon is requested along the existing roof-line and fluorescent lighting is requested along the underside of the soffit of the building. RECOMMENDATION: The Planning and Development Board, with a 4-2 vote, recommended denial of this request. This recommendation was based on the Board's concern that approval would establish a lack of consistency between project to project; either neon (or any kind of exterior lighting attached to the outline of a building) should be allowed or not allowed.
