Heyden ~.ii Planning and Zoning Director TO: DATE: April 12, 1995 SUBJECT: Miami Subs (1920 South Federal Highway) Community Design Plan Appeal - exterior lighting File No. CDPA 95-003 Please place the above-referenced request on the April 18, 1995 City Commission agenda under Development Plans, Non-consent agenda. DESCRIPTION: This is a request for relief from Section 10.F.G of the Community Design Plan regarding exterior lighting for Miami subs at 1920 south Federal Highway, submitted by owner, Joe Marouf. Exposed neon lighting is proposed along the entire length of each side of the existing parapet wall. RECOMMENDATION: The Planning and Development Board, with a 4-3 vote, recommended denial of this request. This recommendation was based on the Board's concern that approval would establish a lack of consistency between project to project; either neon (or any kind of exterior lighting attached to the outline of a building) should be allowed or not allowed.
